The August day I was sterilized was pretty glorious. Did the deed, my wife bought me some cheese fries and drove me home from Missoula while I ate them and poured a road beer over a couple painkillers. You haven't understood the true virtue contained in a cheese fry till your newly-subdued balls are swollen and you're stoned and your wife's driving you home after what is arguably the closest you've ever been to kicking the bucket.

Note for HTers thinking about getting snipped in the next year or so... don't do it during summer. If you have complications, you'll be grounded and it sucks. On week two of forced rest and I'm sitting here reading about all y'all be outing and about in the sun. Do it during winter when you can just sink your balls into a snow bank

@TOGIE what peaks do you have on the calendar?
So you and Chris both will have your boys out in July.....
 
Down 35 lbs since March 16 when I went (mostly) Keto. Still losing, but not as fast. If I don't do my walk I usually won't lose anything.

Doing the same 6.5 miles loop in my pack every day. Health app calls it 14000 steps. Lots of vertical. Adding weight each day. By wheels up I won't be at my 200 lb target weight yet, but I'm as fit as I've been in a long time.

Backslid and had a huge stack of pancakes last week and skipped my walk. Gained 5 pounds!

That’s mostly water, don’t let that get you down.

You would have to take in like 17-18000 extra calories in a week to actually gain that much real “weight,” that would have to be one hellacious stack of pancakes.

Finally decided to join in. I've been following along with your 2023 journeys and been on one of my own. Weighed myself earlier this year and was at 279lbs. I felt tired and generally unhealthy. On March 1st I started to get serious about working out again. Since March 1st I am down to 253. I have been 253-255 for the past few weeks. Those few weeks have been a bit of a struggle. I can't wait to say I am closer to 200lbs than 300lbs. Being 6'3" and 45, I'd be happy to be 220-230 lbs.

have you ever cooked like 5 pancakes in bacon grease tho? and then slather like 3-4 table spoons of butter on each one? then drown it in real maple syrup? and eat all of them yourself?

then do literally all of that on several more but also with peanut butter and eat all of them?

and do that two mornings in a row?

wife left me alone with the baby all last weekend...

No. Zero sweets, with jusy one exception- my wife makes a pumpkin pie every Thanksgiving and it’s all mine. Once it’s gone, that’s it for the year.

It’s probably the one piece of self-control keeping me sub 300 to be honest- I’m a garbage disposal otherwise!

i gorge on sugar probably like 6 times a year. i think that was #1 for this year.

it's funny though, most of society would look at that meal and say it was the bacon grease and butter that made it unhealthy. IMO the only unhealthy thing about that meal was the pancake itself and the syrup.
 
I would strongly recommend getting cut Wednesday in March before the Thursday start to NCAA March madness B Ball tournament so you can use that as an excuse sit on the couch to watch the opening weekend which is usually the best part of the tournament
I did this exact thing. Got snipped and watched hoops for a week!

trying to get South Arapahoe to North Arapahoe traverse on the calendar with trb right now. have Crestone Needle and Humboldt on the calendar with an old college buddy in late august. looking for a day to do Meeker via southwest ridge as well.
I've done Humboldt twice and the needle in summer of 09. Super fun climb! I love that view of the needle from the lake Below.
