80's and 90's kid here. Goulash (sp?) and fried potatoes and hot dogs were also staples in addition to the country crock grilled cheese and hamburgers on white bread.
Dad used to throw a can of tuna into box Mac and cheese. It’s actually pretty good.We used to fry hotdogs with our eggs and toast for breakfast.
OMG, I totally forgot about cube steaks ! I literally had goulash last nightGoulash, chicken patties, tater tot casserole, and cube steaks. Cube steaks is still probably one of my favorite meals to this day. Love that shit. If dad was cooking it was canned meat ravioli...every single time. You haven't lived til you've eaten a soggy chicken patty on white bread with ketchup, but we never went hungry.

The story on how processed cheese came about is on the "Food that Made America" on History. Basically wanted to be able to ship it longer distances and not spoil and they got their break supplying the military. Guys got to liking it on the battle field and they wanted it when they came home from the war.Veeta is colored and flavored polyethylene, made from crude oil & free healthcare.
Makes 'killer' queso...And tastes oh so good....what do you think was in my grilled cheese sammies today
I was of a similar mindset until I moved to NM. Easy decent queso for chips can be had with a chunk of velveeta in a small crockpot, add drained can of Rotel.Velveeta is just fishing bait that you buy at the grocery store. Any other opinions are null and void.
Psych! Has this ever happened in HT history? Two HTers post the same thing simultaneously?Makes 'killer' queso...
