freeze dried foods

Sorry! I just thought maybe someone has tried a particular brand of freeze dried backpacking meals they liked.

I found that Mtn House was cheapest at Walmart. Not as much variety, but cheaper than anywhere else.

This may be somewhat controversial, but in my advanced age i've found that certain freeze dried meals work better than others. When hiking in the wildnerness, i will put upwards of 1-2 freeze dried meals per day out in my game cart. Although i'm a fair weather hunter, i'm more inclined to eat food at certain times of day when the animals have all dispersed into areas of less pressure. This allows my replaced joints to rest, which is helped further by consumption of freeze dried meals. However it is tough to beat a good sandwich.

I haven't been on here very much lately, appears I'm missing something. I use Mountain House more than any others with my personal choice being the Lasagna, Beef Stroganoff and Breakfast Skillet.

The mountain house lasagna doesn't "pear" well with me. It resembles a glowing red pile of nuclear waste when it comes out the other end. Be careful and stay safe Bill.

Why not try some potted meat or deviled ham on a hard roll and a hersey bar.
