Looking hard at a new F150 with this motor...Lot of research so far, but as we all know the guys that drive/driven one know best...Pro's/Con's?

It runs hard! Really looks good on paper but I won't buy a motor until its been out for a few years. If they hold together my next truck will be one. Try WWW.ford truck enthusiast.com

I have a good friend that has had two of them and he's a believer. In my limited time around trucks with that motor I'd say Ford has a good motor in the eco-boost. I haven't owned a Ford in several years, but I'm looking at one pretty serious as well.

I've put 20,000 miles on my F-150 Ecoboost. It hauls anything, goes anywhere, and keeps on asking for more. I've been consistently impressed by it's ability to haul light, medium and heavy loads. With the HD Max Tow package, I can tow up to 11,300 and it will do it without problem. I towed a 8,000 lb trailer for about 300 miles the other day and it was a solid tow vehicle.

Nice, that's what I was looking for...Thanks Matt!

I believe it was Orvis who bought one right out of the box, did some kind of lift and drove off into the Northern Lights. Wish he would give an update since his should be 1-2 years old now. John

They are pretty awesome. Have drove over 100 of them and they do run great. Have a few coworkers that have them and they all love them. The power in that motor is crazy for a v6.

I have had mine about 3 weeks. I had a hard time trying to find someone who could really say anything bad about them. I held out until the motor had been on the road about 3 years, and it seems like they are doing well. I have been getting pretty good milage with it (20-21 on the highway/18-19 overall), and it isn't even broke in yet.

Hey Ross, I didnt know you just bought a new truck...I bought a new F150 just over a week ago. I went with the V8 over the eco boost simply because it was a bit cheaper (and they didnt have any ecos in black in stock). Havent heard anything bad about them yet but like anything new, itll be 5 years before everything is known.

Yeah, I had been holidng out for a while, and when they came out with all the end-of-year deals I decided it was too good to pass up. It is actually the first new vehicle I have ever had. I am getting the bed liner sprayed in this week, and will be driving out to WY a week from tomorrow. Should be a good break in :D.

I went back and forth on the ECO or the V8, but in the end I decide to give it a shot. So far, I am very happy with it.

How are you doing for mileage with the V8?

First new vehicle ever for me too. Im breaking it in this weekend heading up to hunt bear.

Im getting 18 with the v8. Hopefully get a little better on the long trip this week

As a former ford owner, and a mechanic for over 20 years Id say the eco-boost v-6 appears to not be too shabby,,,Id still wait awhile to see if any problems arize for a while.Once ford came out with the disaster 6.0 powerstroke P. O.S. diesel ,im now very leery of anything "new" untill people get some true milage and use put on them.ford used to have good products but im very leery of them now,,,I see fords as "fix or repair daily".

took a quick google search on ecoboost and it appears to have a few issues but not nearly as bad as the 6.0 diesel.sounds like there is a oil pump /oil leak issue back by the bell housing, intake valve deposit issue and tranny/torque converter issues but they are still a pretty new engine set up.would like to see issues found by 100k but nobody has stacked up that many miles yet.

+1
I feel sorry for anybody who bought a 6.0 ford diesel. The horror stores are astounding to read/hear about.

On the eco boost lets see how it tows when it is 5 years old and has 150,000 miles then it will have proven something. I'm always hesitant to belive when things seem too good to be true. If it turns out ot be a dependable and reliable engine that will last a couple hundred thousand miles with minimal maintenence Ford has hit a home run. Sounds like they are working well so far.

I traded in my 5.9l cummins on one and now I have 43,000 on mine. A lot of that was pulling my 620 or work trailers, I absolutely love it!

Ive been a ford advocate for many years but after the 6.0 powerstroke disaster dilema I am now a proud dodge cummins owner,,,I will be vary wary of any new ford engine now.

That six was a disaster for Ford, but it happens to all companies at one time or another. The eco boost seems to be good, but it seems like there is too much there to break down for my liking. Long term will tell.

At least Ford did not take the bailout money like GM and Chrysler. I refuse to look at either one now.

I bought an ecoboost earlier this month. Ordered it in June and arrived August 4th. So far, I really like it. Upgraded the tires right away to 285/60/20 duratracs to handle off road and snow later this year. With just over 1,000 miles, I took a 60 mile drive with the wife on 2 lane highways and averaged just over 18. Between the hills, being at altitude, and my larger tires, I figure its reasonable. Love the power.

that power joke was a piece of well you know,so go dodge and skip all the hassle.:hump:
