USO and the federal bill and non-resident tags, that topic. Would this make it more fair than what we do now?

Everyone pay a federal tresspass fee, whatever is fair, wether you're in state or out of state you pay it to the feds. for use of the fed. land. Then, there's the state wildlife budget. Residents and non-residents pay in proportion to the game harvested, that's more fair. Right now, non-residents are paying more than their share of several western state wildlife budgets.

You agree, its more fair? If not, what is more fair?

I like it the way it is. I think it's fair. The only thing that isn't fair is giving tags to the welfare outfitters for their clients. Also landowners shouldn't be allowed to sell tags as if they own the wildlife. |oo That's not fair either.

mental trauma associated with meth use...

This key points may be very cornfusing for you Tom.

Wildlife is owned by the state. Texas is unique...

Everybody has access to federal land today, free of charge. What would a fee be for?

"pay in porportion to the game harvested"?? Do you need a pricing handicap for hunting?

The fee would be to pay for the resources used. I thought wildlife is owned by the people, and managed by the state. We all own it. Texas is not different in that, that I know of.

Grazers used to be able to graze cattle for free, now they pay. The elk, the deer, they graze, so, the hunter would pay their fair share, not just those who graze cattle and/or sheep and get them for their own use.

pricing handicap, what's that? I remember reading like 20 some percent of some state wildlife budgets come from out of state people. Do out of state people get 20 some percent of the game tags? If not, its taxation without representation and its price gouging.

If the elk and deeer eat the federal food, live there, and the state owns them, does the state pay the feds. like the cattle grazers on federal land do?

Tom...I don't know which thread to answer on any more...are you saying we should all pay a Federal access fee to get onto the land and then pay the State for the tags & license?? Why would we do this when we already have access to public lands for FREE and already pay the States for the tags & license?? WHAT AM I MISSING HERE? And how would giving the Feds $$ help you gain access to more ground that you can currently access already |oo

If the elk and deeer eat the federal food, live there, and the state owns them, does the state pay the feds. like the cattle grazers on federal land do?

Very good question Tom. If you go to National Forest and eat some grass, what does THAT mean?

Well, Greenhorn, if you want me to pay for my cattle to eat the grass, wouldn't you want me to pay for the grass that I eat? If so, then isn't it fair to have me pay for the grass that my elk eats? When I tag it, its mine, so, if the state doesn't pay the feds. and I don't pay the feds., how's that fair?

Why don't cattle eat for free, like in the days of the open range? Because, its not fair that's why. Same thing with elk and deer. I don't know if its broken, but it doesn't seem fair.

Tom- elk are owned by the person after the kill not prior to killing it. I will gladly pay for all of the grass they eat after it is mine.

Life isn't fair. My brother say its a dog eat dog world out ther. maybe git a lawyr and sue them guys.

In reality, in fairness, why not everyone pay one price for a license? Do reidents, or non-residents take any more of the resource than the next? Who contributes more $ wise (nonstate-tax wise)? I'm for a fed license. The hunting may suck/ or not, local outfitters/ landowners may loose some pocket cash, others/ busineses will pick up some; but we all put in the same amount in taxes for the same property.

The Fed redistributes about a Bazillion $ for programs that each state either benefits, or doesn't, based in the tax base, so I don't see how this is really a different issue.

I like it the way it is. I think a resident of a state should have preference in his/her state.
I get to hunt cheaper in my own back yard, If I decide to hunt wyoming I know that it will cost me alot more, and I am fine with that. It keeps the price down so younger guys and those who don't have much money can afford to go, It also makes it possible to take your kids, and teach them and pass the heritage down. Imagine if you had to pay non resident prices to be able to take a couple teenagers on weekends when school is out. I would bet that even fewer youngsters would be recruited.

Yes , But how much tip would you leave ?
