I'm eastern Washington, but south near the Oregon border and Columbia River. These pics are all from ponds along the river (the Oregon side of the river in fact) and in an area that has decent numbers of woodies.I hunt near Colfax, Washington...never knew Wood Ducks are there...is that only during spring migration?
When I lived in Logan, UT Wood Ducks were much more common in the spring than the fall.
That’s a fact. Lots of people love them green heads but it’s wood ducks that do it for me.Nothing prettier than a full plumage woody!
I’ve seen a few around. The upper Palouse has some.I hunt near Colfax, Washington...never knew Wood Ducks are there...is that only during spring migration?

This is also a very cool pic. Im surprised by the number of chics that little hawk had. i would've expected 2 or 3 max. Busy mom feeding those mouths....Was checking woody boxes after the spring hatch with a buddy of mine (he logs egg numbers and sends them in to CWA. Had the normal woodies, squirrels, and wasps inside but these guys were a first, clutch of kestrels View attachment 185601
