Hunt Talk Radio - Look for it on your favorite Podcast platform

Wannabe Mountain Lion Hunter from SC now in New Mexico. Any tips or offers to join much appreciated. I have two tags so if anyone wants to join please

Had the area you saw the cat in been open, and if watching the carcass was a legal hunting method, I would have been sitting there watching it from a couple hundred yards away until there was no meat left on it. Other than that, calling is probably your best bet.

BTW - In the past, I did a lot of calling in areas with mountain lions, and I have only actually seen one that came in. I was calling for moose when that happened.
Wow. Those are some elusive animals. That’s incredible.

No shit Sherlock. This ain’t a helpful post at all. I have tags, not even talking about bobcats and don’t plan to just go shoot animals you idiot.
Let me get this straight, you come into this forum talking about nearly poaching an animal and I refer you to the appropriate game laws yet I'm the idiot?

I'll keep making these comments until some of you all get it. If you think you have to personally attack someone on this page, then leave.

In my opinion sitting and glassing during daylight hours would be very unproductive.
I've been out in the woods and mountains of NV for over 50 years and during all that time I've only seen 3 mtn lions.
They are so elusive because they're mostly nocturnal.
Since the last time I saw a lion in the daylight about 15 years ago, I buy a tag to have in my wallet on the off-chance that I see one again. Here in NV they can be hunted all year round. There are quotas for certain areas but they yearly quota has never been met.
Good luck in your mtn lion endeavor. (y)
