Devaluing Non-Residents

What is clear after 8 pages is the animosity between like minded wildlife enthusiasts and the greed of residents and NR. No one is asking for a handout but drastically changing the rules after taking thousands over decades is wrong. What WY did for MSG was fraudulent. We need all hunters to support public lands and effective wildlife management. The anti hunting crowd and those that want to privatize both wildlife and public land aren’t divided. So stop acting with malice against other hunters, resident or nonresident.

And the truth hurts, but you don't live in 49 of the states so your not entitled to jack shit there. That goes for every human in the United states. Except illegals their not entitled to jack shit anywhere here. 🙂

Really?

How many goat points did you have in Wyoming and what did you pay for them before Wyoming finally started treating their Residents the same as every other Western State?

You can’t help yourself! I have moose points but that isn’t the point. For someone who claims to work for public lands, you may be the worse spokesman ever.

He may lack bedside manner (especially on line), but he has been an effective advocate in WY for years - not sure there is much doubt on that point.

If you are reciting a personal philosophy - good for you. If you are suggesting this is actually the framework of this republic then you are way off base.

I don't advocate for pricing out NRs. This article seems to be arguing that much of the discussion around limiting NRs is based upon pricing them out. As the article explains: they wouldn't be priced out, it would just be more wealthy hunters. I agree with that part of his premise.

But Mr. Peterson's article(s) really seems to be working to invalidate any legitimate concerns that hunters may have by making it only about misplaced animosity or a pity party, as he's done this once already: https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/g...uld-stop-throwing-pity-parties-for-themselves

For example: in MT, the facts have demonstrated that total hunter numbers and days are increasing, and resident hunters are decreasing while NR hunter numbers are increasing. Add the fact that there is less huntable land in MT due to a decrease in block management, and what you have is more hunters covering less land and herding wildlife onto inaccessible property. The problem isn't between Rs and NRs, it is an increase in total hunters putting unsustainable pressure on a finite resource. Residents who have watched this change happen over the last 25 years--who have seen a dramatic increase in NR plates and a correlation between that and less game on huntable landscape--have a legitimate concern.

Saying R's should shut up and be grateful that NRs are giving so much money to the state is an irresponsible argument. It completely misses the very real issue, which is that there are far too many two-legged predators on public land, and the wildlife knows it. Reducing--or better yet--redistributing NR pressure would be a good way to start addressing this problem. It's not the only way. But nor is this as much of a "non-issue" as Mr. Peterson would like it to be.

Ok, who do you know that "lost thousands" when Wyoming committed fraud over goat points?
