Deer - lets see em

1997 - Central Montana. Mrs. Fin poses with her finest buck, a nice heavy 4X4 that she took while I was looking elsewhere.

Nice assist from a toothless seven year-old who was always good at convincing us to shoot whatever happened to stand for a shot. Not sure he ever saw a buck without saying, "Shoot that one, he's a big one." And, we would oblige.

Another Central Montana buck from 1992. My son helped me find the buck and did all he could to help drag him up this slope. He loved that hunt and asked me to cook deer steaks all winter, polishing off that buck by April. Probably one of my favorite hunting memories, even if it was not a huge buck.



Always loved those Converse All-stars for warm weather deer hunting.

1993 - Forsyth, Montana. Had only made it about a quarter mile from the Block Management sign in box, when the three year-old called me to task, "Dad that's a whopper. You better shoot 'em real quick."

So I did. And very happy to have done so.

A few whitetails over the years...its all about the corn flingers, food plots, trail cams, leases, and cough silencers that you must have to be a whitetail hunter.

2002 - Now it was Fin's turn to say, "That's a whopper. Shoot 'em and be quick about it." His first deer was one he earned after a long hands and knee stalk, making a great 70 yard shot as the buck bedded in the tall grass.

Here are some photos from years past through 2012. First is 1991 ID WT, then 1994 WA MD, 1994 ID WT, 1998 AK SB, 2002 ID WT, 2007 WY WT, 2008 WY MD, 2009 WY MD, 2011 ID WT and 2012 WY MD. Many other smaller bucks and does have occupied the freezer, but these photos represent some of the better antlered deer.
