Deer - lets see em

Here is a pic of my buck from this year. It was a snap decision to shoot him as he passed though a narrow shooting lane. I killed him with a 1957 manufactured Savage 99 in .300 Savage with open sights. 79 yards and dead in his tracks. He was the last of my 4 deer I killed that day, a buck and 3 does. All deer taken while hunting with a good buddy.

Already posted my son's first deer, 2002. Can't find a pic of his 2003 buck, so I guess we will go to 2004.

Awesome whitetails, guys. What I wouldn't give to hunt one of those critters.

Here's a few bucks (mule deer & blacktail) I've arrowed over the years.

My archery "bachelor herd" wall:

Some that didn't make the wall:

Those are the bigger whitetails I have gotten last picture was me and 2 buddys from this rifle season all on different land

A couple archery muleys, taken in completely different extremes.

Buschy doing his best to kill me in December 2009. Western ND with wind chill well below -0 F. Still too big of a puss to go back again. Perfect example where the challenge of the hunt defines the quality of the trophy.

Nevada, August 2010. Hot as hell, or at least as hot as I suspect hell will be.

1999 Montana, buddy holding his and my buck

2002, the one that got away. Chased this buck for 3 years, this was his farewell picture as I left town...He had both horns the night before... took everthing I had to not turn around and go look for that shed. My neighbror picked up the set and killed him that next fall in archery season. He ended up at 163 with a 23" inside spread. I have 3 antlers off this guy, the prior year set, and a single. Biggest buck I ever saw in my ol stomping grounds

1995 Montana. I chased this guy for a a season, and even missed with my bow... stalked him on the ground and sent an arrow through his rack. I went back the next week and put a 243 slug in his ribs.

My photography skills were nearly non-existent before the turn of the century, so I don't have much postworthy before then.

While I have been hunting for awhile, I got into the killing game a little late! Here's the extent of my deer, taken within the last two years (3 archery, 1 rifle)
