Missed that the first time, holy buckets!!

Friend that is bc scorer, scored him. 120 gross. 112 net. Still can't believe his mass.

I passed on this Buck in 2023 hoping to see him bigger in 2024. Found him in the upper part of the same drainage dead next to water just this week while looking for him. Either someone wounded him or he got sick late last season. He would have been shootable this year with reasonable antler growth. I am going to clean him up and honor him on my wall.

Scanning the adjacent field I saw a flash of white.







It was on the other side of the property line that I’m hunting. The landowner called the deadhead land owner and secured permission to retrieve. And then the game warden gave permission to pick up (deadheads require salvage tags in Kansas).

Not a good way to die, I’m guessing.

Yikes. Certainly not a good way to go. Worse for the one that died second though! Probably watched his opponent get chewed on by coyotes.

Found an antelope deadhead in a spot I’ve never seen an alive one, and then not a deadhead but a kill in a spot I walked past the morning before.

Those are two dandy bucks. We need more pics. The mass on the buck on the left seems to be next level.

They look to be equally matched in size? What’s your plan with them?

They look to be equally matched in size? What’s your plan with them?

It took some twisting to separate them as the half skull buck entered the tall bucks rack from the side. I suppose after getting entangled they both kept trying to face each other head on, making it impossible to get unlocked. The simmer of the full skull buck has started, with the other to follow.

Taking them apart will make the euro prep easier, but I will hook them back together on display.

I hope the step by step photos will help! I knew it carried a certain amount of risk, but making the skull prep possible without full immersion.


One thing I’m looking forward to doing is taping out the scores on the individual racks, and adding them together, and then I will be actually able to say that I carried “fill in the blank” inches of antler out that night.

(More or less than 260 inches??)
