I paid my child support religiously until my older boys were 21. I never complained, as I knew it was helping them out (when not being spent on girls night out and crab egs). I'm almost done with my youngest. Fathers that don't pay their support are pieces of shit. I don't know how many times I went without hunting tags, or groceries, or even gas in my truck, to make sure my boys were taken care of, even over the child support mandate. If you can't pay for your kids, not only are you a piece of shit, but you don't deserve your 'fun'.

Yep.

When I first moved in with my now wife. Her ex told her he didn't feel the need to pay child support anymore if she was living with me. Piece of shit is right. If my wife and I got divorced tomorrow I'd pay my share of child support no questions.

My wife's ex pulled the same shit.

As a guy that paid $3000 a month in child support for 12 years i'm not going to cast any stones. My ex received 100% of what was owed (and then some). I'm sure that many that aren't paying are POS's. If I would have lost my job during those years I would not have been able to make that payment. Cancer diagnosis, car wreck, etc can all have an effect on ones ability to pay.

Sounds about right. She's never made him pay the full amount either I think legally he's required to pay like $1300 per month. He pays $400 a month and still gripes. Told me once he pays my bills. That one struck a nerve.

Interesting mechanics used to improve the process. Will be interesting to see the outcome after a few years.

The department will accomplish this by raising minimum child support payments required to maintain hunting and fishing privileges when a parent owes past due child support.

They will grow to understand that shit and know who the parent was in time. It’s funny how that works when they get old enough to look at life
Yah we'll see. My experience has been a little different with people I know. Usually the dead beets swoop in and want to play parent after the kid is grown. Not like it matters, you do your best amd hope for the best.
