Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Dave N Elk tag fund raiser

Change in procedure today. Went from 2 minutes rest to 5. Managed to squeeze another half a round out before saying "uncle". No pain in my knee. I'm going to stay with this for a while and see how many rounds I can get out this summer. Trying to slowly shed a few pounds and maybe between the two I won't embarrass myself trying to keep up next year! ;)

Redneck flatlander leg workout. 80 pounds of cement blocks in my jetsled. Drag around the backyard for 5 minutes and rest for 2. Repeat until near death. :ROFLMAO: Thinking (hoping) for every other day to let me recover. Knee feels pretty good doing it and from the burn I'm getting I should be building strength over time in my legs. Makes me breathe hard as well!

That's a great idea for a workout.

All,

If other tags don't come through I am more than happy to give a cow tag. Oregon isn't the cheapest for non resident about ($700) but I can either give a LOP 3 month cow tag or if they still have damage tags it will also be good for 3 months. All lodging, food, equipment needed included.

Glad we can all help somehow when well deserved.

BTW,

it can be done this year also for a cow tag. they have over the counter tags available.

I know a guide in northern WY that might be able to help too. Idk what she charges but she has some good elk taken from where she goes. Good for deer as well.

Try the Carnivore Diet, lose weight and helps your overall feeling healthy. John

Money is raised, party app is all set for a WY west general tag, camp location has been decided in WY 102. Accommodations have donated by @Wildabeest. This is shaping up to be a great October 2025 rifle trip.

I just want to publicly thank everyone who donated to the fund.

Also
@seeth07
@elkrchr
@Big Fin
@bowhuntmontana

Their generosity in this adventure was above and beyond.

This will be a HT community event and I look forward to sharing camp with those who want to help make this happen for Dave. If you have interest in attending to help please reach out to Dave or myself.

Addicting

Workout is showing some improvement. I changed it again to keep my heartrate and breathing elevated. One lap is about 2.5 minutes so I do a lap and rest the same time. Just enough to catch my breath and rest my legs some but not get fully recovered. I've been able to do it for an hour. Think I'll stick with that for a while. I'm not completely spent when I get done but can tell I've been working hard at it. Sucks when the temps are this high but a nice wind today helped. I'll have to switch to stairs in the house once the snow flies but that's for later.

What ever you do now physically will pay big dividends in Wyoming. I haven’t missed an elk season in 56 years. Seen many more tags go unfilled for lack of conditioning than for shooting. You don’t have to be a marathon runner but what ever you do to improve will mean less time gasping for air, staring at your toes and more time enjoying the hunt. Very excited to watch this story unfold. Keep after it buddy.
