Corona virus

The world is a mess over this right now and to a certain degree I see why. I hope everyone of both sides of the aisle can pull their heads out of their asses and put their own agendas aside for once. Seeing retail competitors today work toward a common goal to help the people was an encouraging step. It’s just crazy at the moment, everyone seems to be hysterical. If you choke on your water and cough, you are looked at like your the covid19 carrier. If you sneeze from allergies, same thing. You could probably pull off a bank robbery with a booger as a weapon at this point that’s how bad it seems.

If we stipulate your numbers are close,, that is a fatality rate of 17.5%. I think that would have made more news. You might want to look the numbers up before you use them to make a point.
I saw 60,000 deaths from swine flu 10 or 11 years. By pathogen or year

One question I have is what did Obama do to counteract the swine flu? He was in office and from what I can remember did basically nothing. Forgive me if my numbers are off...but from what I remember there was like 35K deaths and a couple hundred thousand infected, but I don't remember containment areas or travel restrictions or much of anything being done under that administration. Now, we have a supposed pandemic with only a little over 5K died, which many who have been quaranteened being released healthy, but now America has come to a halt. The economy is crashing, venues are shutting down, schools sent home, college closing and having kids finish the semester online....and it's somehow Trump's fault for not acting accordingly. What is he supposed to do? He trys a travel ban and the Democrats fight it. The Democrats put forth a spending bill, but only with abortion funding. Trump is trying what he can, but somehow no matter what he does is wrong. I think he could fart and people would complain that it didn't smell bad enough. All of this shit is crazy and will only further seperate parties and that causes a cluster #*^@#*, especially in an election year. Is this a matter of convenience to make Trump look bad? It seems that every election year some sort of virus causes panic and a mess in the states. Come on people...get this shit situated and work together. Trump might not be the best person for the job, but he has the job, so let's support him while he tries to take care of this.
If interested, CNN looked it up. It’s public record but takes some digging. https://apple.news/AeXCnuk-dT7K8gjJ_nJdjGA

Of course the WP, like the NYT, clearly views the world from the left side of the aisle, but it still has some great writers and is worthy of reading even if just to stay up to date on "the opponents". No different than the WSJ OpEd page and its right tilt. I suggest folks get 60% of their content from sources they disagree with and 40% from one they agree with - makes for a much more enlightened discussion.
Thanks for telling us what we should read and watch best hunt talk advise ever

There's also articles that say Obama is gay and Michelle is a tranny and the kids aren't his. If you look hard enough you can find a news source that will say what you want to hear. What you are deliberately overlooking and bypassing is my question about Obama's response to swine flu compared to Trump's on corona virus.
How dare you question a left view on hunt talk.

She’s cool people..
How do they learn to talk like that? if I get the virus can y’all take me down south so I can be treated in a hospital with a nurse that’s got that accent.
My wife and I have a strong east Texas accent. People here in iowa are always telling us they just love hearing us talk. My wife is an RN and it definitely helps her calm down her patience.

OK, as I said I may be wrong after seeing a meme. I just looked it up. 18,036 deaths and 604,446 infected non deaths. I don't think the main point is in the numbers, as you probably overlooked to make a point...my point is in presidential response without a word being heard or raised....

You are closer this time. There were 60+million cases with deaths at 12306. The correct mortality rate for that flu is 0.02% You used the highest number from the range of deaths and misstated the cases by a factor of 100.

The link in the post above is from the cdc. The swine flu in 2009 killed no where near that many in the USA.

You guys better be glad wllm's on vaca....;) We're all gettin it kicked in when he returns.
He has been posting in other spots, think he is just avoiding this one and for good reason. We all probably should... just sayin

After three years, the excuses rings hollow. The instability and rampant turnover of this administration promotes its own crises, and I for one am tired of the lunacy. You can support him all you want. He's in over his head and his ego and foolishness is harming the country. I take umbrage to that.

I've got short term memory problems.

What was the dems busy doing in December when this pandemic started?

Oh. That's right. Worrying about Ukraine.

I would point out the glacial speed with which the left approved positions, or the fact that the dam house controlled the purse, but really, what's the point. Nancy is hardballing for abortion funding, Biden is fundraising on Corona, only he thinks he's fundraising for Coronas.

I'd even play NEW York Governor praising Trump/Pence for their efforts, or Gavin Newsome doing the same.

But. The only thing more infectious than Corona is TDS, but you can recover from Corona.

Don't let facts cloud your narrative

My wife is an RN, and she’s already offering to pimp me out as Daddy Daycare to some of the doctors and nurses with younger, school aged kids that she works with.

You rub that woman's feet when she gets home TO A WARM MEAL AND GLASS OF WINE

Sure be nice as we watch our beloved celebrities and athletes lock themselves in their mansions, who shows up AGAIN when shit gets ugly

I listened to this podcast last night and found it to be a really good one. It’s with a fellow named Amesh Adalja, Who is a senior scholar at Johns Hopkins. If anything, he downplays the rates and statistics of this virus as much as anyone I’ve heard.

One thing he did say that I find terrifying, because I find it to be believable, is that society’s response to this virus, is a dress rehearsal for others to come. Viruses will jump from animals to humans again, and it is entirely possible that a virus could be more contagious than Covid 19, but have a mortality rate of 60%. Play that out in your head.

I could imagine such a disease being the end of society, and my priors are being updated to place potential pandemic as maybe the greatest existential risk to our nation, and possibly our species, that exists. It really is a potential problem that requires more than just an executive office that could be shut down or resurrected at the whims of a president. Our ability to fight pandemics should be staffed and working toward R &D in such away that the certainty and power of its existence would be analogous to that of our military.

This guy is very measured and knowledgeable and this podcast is worth listening to.
