Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

camp pics

hey guys, where are you?? How was your last weekend of deer hunting Trent?
How about you Still? What have you been up to?
My neighbour and I went out to check some traps/snares on Sunday and he was skunked. On Saturday he did alot better. He had snared 3 yotes and a few other varmints. I guess I must have gave him bad luck.

Morning guys, morning short and I will catch up with you all soon. This weekend coming. I hope to get more vids loaded on here. got to go but here is a quick vid.

Morning everyone, where ever you are hiding at. Well I was just about to go out for another deer hunt this morning but decided not to. Left the bow right where it is. I seen so many deer the last three days across the field that I gave up sunday morning of last week. Allso was the last day for gun, and this sunday I beleave it is the last day for bow/muzzel. I think today is a shopping day for xmas then tomorrow will be cleaning up the gun day plus laundry day, Everyone talking about that storm in the west that is heading this way and if we get what they say we might then i'm worry about being out of power for awhile. Dave you been here, any thoughts/ideas on how I could run the generator with out it being stolen?what do you think on me runing it from the truck with it in a close in area. Any ways I just hope that we don't get any of that snow/sleet/freezing ice over trees. Jeanne up early so that means she is going to head out for something :) . ok time to post a couple vids then its out for some window shoping befor the crowd gets to bad. ok in no order at all here is some vids,

Here is the deer I past up as dave was trying to get a turkey  funny that she was watching you as you was watching the birds laffs. She came out to the far left on that vid and it is all open where I took the doe on monday.

Here is the gobblers we was hearing that week as well. And last but not least here is a hen saying goodbye to you dave as she was right for the picking :D  .

Well that be it for now, I got a few pics that I need to scan then post. First I got to find them and then I will try to get some more pics on here. The camera was acting up cause of the cold weather so I took it down as well. Have a good day all and I will see you soon.

Well hunting season is close here as of today. I went out late saturday morning to pick up afew thing befor the storm covers the area. And boy is it snowing out and we gotten alot thus far. Time to save up my vacation for next year. Hope you all have a great xmas and we will keep in touch on here, Speaking of here this thread for some reason is stuck on top for what reason I do not know. Dave how is the yote hunting/traping going. Good way to start it off with three. Bruce you still planing another trip to NY and keep that bow site in.

Holy smokes it has been a wild ride around here. New job, running kids around, trying to get some things done around the house. I almost forgot about this place.

I don't know if I mentioned it in here before about me wanted to get an archery group going in the gym at the church I attend or not. Well after about a year or more we have worked it to the point that the insurer of the church said we have taken all the prcautions that we could to make sure everyone will be safe during our shoots. We should be up and running by mid to late January and I have the netting ordered and is on the road up to Houlton for us to pick up. I can not wait to get this started and have somewere I can go and shoot and get other people involved in the shooting end of it (targets) or even convince some people to hunt with a bow.

Wish me luck.

Nice to see you all are doing OK. Take care and have a very merry Christmas guys and girls.

Just read your last post Trent and Yes we are planning another trip to NY next year. I can not wait and the guys down there are calling it there deer camp when we come down. Hope to make it a yearly thing too.

Good to hear from you Still, thought you went to Africa or Alaska, LOL. Got yourself a new job, hopefully it is close to home and you only have to work from December to October ( so you have all hunting season off). Good luck on the startup of the archery club, maybe an old sod like me will get off the couch and fling a few arrows. Especially if you put on an accredited archery course.
Trent and I discussed next years hunting plans and I don't think I am going down there as I prefer to spend more time hunting here. This past fall I didn't get much time to hunt with Trent here as I spent my week down there at his place. I had a great time down there and I will get there again to get a turkey but probably in 2009. Too many plans for this year (2008) at home.
Trent, Hows the BBQing? All set for Xmas. Pretty near time I take that big bird out of the freezer.
Well everybody and their families have a Joyous Holiday Season and I am looking forward to chatting and pics/vids anytime. Take care all. David

Good luck with the archery shoot and nice going on your new job bruce. Hope you get the time off for another trip to ny with your new job and all. I know what it feels to get away from your home for some RnR. Yeah we are going to hunt alittle harder this coming season at the camp. I got a great deal on a blind ($35). So I hope to get there this spring to set it up along with a cover in house as well. The bbq has not start up yet dave, and I just got done cooking a turkey and debone it for a cold plate for tonight.I'm looking forward in trying to land there this spring for a fish as well. Well hope you all have a great time, And a merry xmas to everyone back home.

Morning guys, I see the site was hack and I lost my last message, hope everyone is doing ok. Here is a few vids to show you that some deer made it threw hunting season. I allso got a couple pics as well on the cam, plus we are having record highs for weather.Time to get ready for work.

Hi guys, Pretty quiet around here. I did get away with neighbour on his trap line on Saturday. There was alot of snow that we had to wade. The snow banks we had to get over from the road were 5' to 6' and the snow from the banks in were crotch high. The snow was light so it wasn't too bad walking, but it was good we didn't have to go in too far from the roads. We caught nothing as the snares were mostly buryed by snow as there were a couple snow storms since last weekend when he checked them. The baits were being hit, so all we were doing was re-baiting, re-adjusting snares and setting a few new snares. All and All it was a good day with the fresh air and exercise.
The weather is above freezing today and is supposed to be high all week. That will settle all the snow but will make it hard walking due to crust and heavier snow. I hope to get trapping next weekend as well. I'll keep you advised.
I see your post on the NB hunting site, Still. Its about arrow cutting. I like that site, although I don't post on it, I do check it all the time for hints, etc.
I will be putting a shack (hopefully) out for smelt. Might you be interested in a days fish? Let me know if interested and when I get shack in place I will contact you.

Nasty woods with all the snow. Every tree you hit would send a snow fall over you. Kinda comical when it happens to buddy, but turns sour when it happens to yourself.

 wow you can have all of that snow dave. The ground here is bare and the lawn as well. only snow we got now is what the banked up from last storm.broke a record that was set back in the 60s I beleave, and going to shatter it big time tommorow when it hits the 60 temps here. I could of easliy wore short today and it would of been perfect. Hex if the sun comes out you could get a tan if it hits those temps. bbq time tomorrow. even that snow you see there in the vids are gone as well. That camera I use is now mine since the wife got a new one that she wanted. Try sneaking the new one away and she on me like a mad women :D Well time to get things ready and have leftover prok chops. Later guys

Well it is saturday here and I think I will go out and do some setting up for this year. I notice when we had snow that the deer found a hole in my barrier. So I will reinforce that spot. You know where the trail comes threw the middle dave. They found another way to go threw that keeps them out of bow range. I'm loading a couple pics to show you what a 12 hour drive does weather wise as well.

So I think I will set up and maybe take care of a few squirrles as well. Have a good weekend and I'm sure we will look like you guys (Snow Wise). But until then i'm going to take full advantage of our weather here for now.

Morning everyone, Just stop in to throw a few pics up. I got another ground blind that was cheep and with my connection it was even cheeper. So it is set up and since it has a point at the top I figure that the snow would not stay on it. well see what happen. When you stand there and look at it you can not see inside. great for hunting and with your camo on it should work out pretty well. I took the screw-ins out of that tree dave and i'm going to place them in the tree right beside my climbing. So here are the pics and the first one is where the screw-ins are going to the left of my climbing one.

next pics are the new blind set up.
