American Prairie - 88,000 acres of access

I don't think those large landowners necessarily compare to APR. The difference is the amount of access to the Breaks APR could shut down if so inclined in the future. mtmuley
I get where you’re coming from, but other rich landowners have already done it. The Wilkes have shut down a ton of access. So have others that have been mentioned here. I think the AP is less of a threat. So far they are doing the exact opposite.

Yes pure speculation. But naming one landowner that allows access vs the 1000’s that don’t kinda proves my point.
But it really doesn’t. I could list 10 more off the top of my head that allow access and open up a ton of access to public lands behind them. You can’t name 1,000s as you claim. Better to stick to facts than try to paint the picture that all wealthy landowners do is shut down access. That’s simply not true.

This is also a pointless argument because I actually like the APR. There may be a couple things I disagree with but for the most part they are doing really good things.

If I put time and effort into it I bet I could find 1000 landowners that don’t allow access. Looking at BMA’s is an easy way. I do know landowners that don’t participate in BMA that allow access. I’m really not trying to argue, but for what the price of what the APR parcels would have cost, I doubt they would have been purchased to allow public access.

Just about all landowners allow some kind of access, It may not be free, but people are still hunting there. Some places are hunted harder now by the outfitter that leases them than they ever where when access was free. The ranches that APR now owns had people hunting there before APR bought the places. What matters is if there is a net increase in hunter access. I would suspect that there is.
