American Prairie - 88,000 acres of access

UPOM is the primary organization opposing AP. Ranchers have this emotional fear of the ranching (cowboy) way of life being lost and that is what perpetuates the negativity, which is mostly based on false information. Although AP does run bison on the lands, some of the heretofore cattle grazing ranch lands are still in cattle production and the "cowboy" way.

Those like myself who have been watching AP evolve and have scrutinized goals and mission, mostly are in support. AP has provided a huge conservation effort, with public access, camping, hunting, and outdoor recreation, along with educational and research programs. The AP operation provides a significant economic boost to some of those central and NE Montana waning small towns.

One of the prominent advisory board members and a supporter from the onset is a noted Montana landscape artist who grew up in the small farm town of Chester. You don't get any more real Montana roots than that!
Again, using words like emotion & misinformation are subject opinion words. Especially in the context of the “misinformation” wording. It is a bullying term made so popular by the liberalism mindset disease of the past 4 years.

I soundly believe in everything that the UPOM stands for. I don’t and won’t support AP. You won’t change my mind with an internet debate & keyboard cowboys. The subject deserves more respect than a bunch of internet fools (myself included) getting their jimmies all in a bunch!

Lastly, when I see the entrenched, government employees (current or retired) that are regular posters on here supporting something like AP and dissing on an organization like UPOM it makes me question “why”.

The “why” answer is always telling and usually but not always is in the opposite of what is being promoted as said truth.

Ok, but asking again what is the special information you seem to know about AP that we are all unaware of? If there is some kind of leaked document or something illustrating a nefarious plan or at least some smoke and mirrors on the part of AP, we would all be interested in seeing it. So far, no one claiming to know such has been able to produce a single item to support this assertion, which at this point leads many of us to believe it does not exist.

When people make vague claims about having special knowledge but either can’t or won’t share said information with anyone else, you’ll have to forgive me, but it does feel a lot like lies and misinformation.

Thank-you for your response. First off, I am not a current or retired govt employee. Secondly, as already expressed, I respect your right to whatever opinion. Thirdly, "emotion and misinformation" are not merely opinionated, but are based on negative, obviously emotional and factually false public rhetoric by many opposed to AP, in particular UPOM.
Primary concern regarding the position of UPOM is that the organization's criticism has pointed to the buy-sell negotiations and transactions between ranchers, willing sellers, and AP, willing buyer, and has alluded to a clearly contradictory ideology regarding basic property right of willing seller - willing buyer.

But with respect to your opinions and "argument", you have yet to respond to a request for information relative to your statement: "Not misinformed. I know more & different information than you do."
You must realize your standing relative to this controversial issue would be legitimate if supported by facts.

Build better fences or tear them down.

Free roaming bison herds!
'Ever been around SW Montana Turner Properties bison ranches? Negligible problems with bison impacting neighboring properties refutes your apparently sarcastic comment regarding "free roaming bison herds".
AP fences seem to be working fine. They are also "tearing down" (removing) interior fences not wildlife-friendly.

Do you soundly believe in UPOM’s lawsuit against FWP?

I’ve been told if you keep them fed they won’t go anywhere. Till breeding season those bulls will go roam.

'Think you meant "during" breeding season, but they don't roam far if bison cows are in the same pasture/prairie grasslands area.

There is no instance of "roaming" bison bulls tearing through fences to go rape polled Hereford cows ... as former Senator Brenden often referred.

Small sample size but the one I talked to in Wyoming told me about keeping them fed. Then he said the wind blew the wrong way one day when love was in the air and couple of his bulls wondered off around 100 miles to the next bison ranch

Here's some simple words, you don't know what you're talking about.

My last trip to the AP properties were hunting elk with my Brother, 2023 hunting season. They provide some incredible access to the public land hunter.

We've taken many elk, both bulls and cows on directly on AP property or only because of the access they provide through their property to thousands of acres of public.

These couple stand out, my Dad shot this bull on a newly acquired AP property, that even 2 years prior he never would have had the opportunity to hunt.

Our last trip there in 2023, my Brother and I were exploring a new access trail AP provided and located a small group of nice rams. We were camped next to a NR California hunter who happened to have a ram permit. We dropped an onx pin on where the rams were. The next day he shot his ram from that group. My Brother and I helped him pack that ram as well.

That would not have happened without the access AP provided, period end of statement. The only other way to reach that public land would have been a $3k trespassing fee via a private hunt club.

So, you can continue your failed smear campaign all you want, but you don't have any additional information. If you did, you'd be plastering it all over the internet.

AP gets annual donations from me and that will continue.

Straight arrow I’m a supporter of AP. You’re missing the mark.

No, 'wasn't even alluding to your position regarding AP. Your ambiguous sentences seemed to think you believe "roaming" bison are a problem.
If that "mark" was missed, it was due to misunderstanding your short statement, "Till breeding season those bulls will go roam".

Great pics and great stories. Memories for a lifetime! Thank you for sharing. Sincerely!

It is unfortunate and certainly within your standard commenting mode history to attack others that don’t believe the same as you do. Just because you yell the loudest or call the person names doesn’t mean you are better, more right, less right or anything other than a person yelling.

To say, “you don’t know what you’re talking about” is really telling and actually makes the point for me. I have all of the same information as you do, I read it different, see it different, analyze it different, even speculate the future of it differently. Perspective and the differences in those perspectives are where people that yell loose their effectiveness in the room.

To your comment,” ……if you did, you would be plastering it all over the internet”. You don’t know what you assume and speak. That’s all-

Sincerely, I enjoyed the pics and the back stories, thank you! Those are the heart of what keep me coming back to Hunt talk.

This other garbage is just for fun 😉.

You made the claim on the inside scoop...spill it.

Convince me that AP is doing horrible things.

^this

Someone ought to tell me the bad that APR does. Every single time ive had the persistence to press someone on their disdain it comes down to idealogy, fear mongering, and labels not objectivity.

Not a spreader of misinformation on the internet as per others perception.
You have nothing but conjecture and lies...thanks anyway.

BTW, I hope you never use/hunt/fish/access AP property or use their awesome public access routes through their property to bigger public blocks either.

Wouldn't want to support such a corrupt organization by being a user.
