Leupold BX-4 Rangefinding Binoculars

7mm rem mag

If a rifle can't group 3 shots into acceptable accuracy without cooling between shots, down the road it goes. The op's groups, if at 300 yards are less than MOA from his description. Ethanb, post a target. mtmuley

Lead sleds wreck stocks....

if this is a light tapered barrel you need to let it cool between shots.

if the first two go where they should and the 3 wanders off it’s generally a barrel heating/bedding issue.
The only time that they can wreck stocks, is if you put a bunch of weight on them. I shot hundreds of rounds over them over a period of years with my 7 mags and other cartridges, without one, single issue. Lightly weight it and it is fine.

For a hunter, the first shot is the one that counts anyway. My best rifle will reliably shoot half MOA first shot.

I’m hoping all rifles shoot a one shot half moa group?!? One bullet hole to measure moa... how is this figured?

Easy..... you take a white hole patch, stick it in the center of the black on a bullseye target, then pick up a cold rifle and see where you hit on the patch. Let the rifle cool down and repeat.

Groups have no real worth in hunting situations except as practice or zeroing a scope. Or maybe a second shot. I put two in a Deer not long ago, first shot at 40 yards, the Deer took off at a right angle to my left and ran uphill, stopped to blow at the top of the ridge and I took a second shot at around 70 yards. Both bullet holes could be covered with a fifty-cent piece. Not exactly MOA but close enough.:) Some Deer die hard, this one had a heart that looked like Strawberry jam.

Three shot groups, five shot groups, kind of irrelevant in most hunting situations.

Any reason you'd need more than two shots while hunting?

Especially, when using that much gun for deer.

I would have to ask. How much time are you letting you barrel cool between shots. I have a Ruger I. 6.5 manbun and it will put the frist 3 in a dime and the next two start creaping out to a quarter. Let it cool and its back to a dime. Thin barrels start moving with less heat than a heavy one
