‘24 Iowa Whitetail

I think, next year, we are going to have to nominate a photographer to follow Geller around on these drives and hunts to record the front-line action and exactly what happens and report back to HT.

Who has the credentials? Any out-of-work news reporters available here?
I would be honored to get an invite to the Gellar deer camp *hint hint* ;)

I just climbed a steep bluff and now I’m waiting to begin the drive. This is probably my favorite drive and it has been productive. We did this same drive opening morning. It’s about 1.5 miles for me from start to finish. I’m on a steep side hill and my right leg is usually about 1 foot higher in elevation than my left foot. Last night we had a long conversation ( 2 bottles of Irish whiskey worth) about the proper way to be a driver. The conclusion was A proper driver should have just as much opportunity to kill a deer as a stander, even more so if they know what the deer want to do, use all of your senses and learn from the other drivers. So far I think we are about 50/50 on deer for drivers vs standers. The standers shoot more antlerless deer but that’s mostly because of the difficulty of getting a deer out for the drivers. It would most likely require dragging uphill where a stander can usually get an atv in close proximity of a down deer.
