As I guy that spent most of his life in massachusetts, I go with that the attitude of most people are going to screw me and is there a way to protect myself. I think it's a wise way to go through life. It's sad that one has to think this way but it has worked professionally and personally.
I made my own. I suspect it is the same material as the caribou bags. Breathable, ripstop nylon. Only four bone in deer hauled out so far, but absolutely bomb proof. I made them large, so it can handle elk. Much lighter than the old cotton ones. Four of mine are about the weight of one...
We just came back from three days in region 7. We had a great time. Saw a lot of muley does and a few bucks. Lots of turkeys. But two things really stood out. First was the number of coyotes. Just wow. If it wasn't a four and a half hour drive then I'd be back this winter for some hides...
I love stories like this. As one ages, reading things like this are quite inspiring. May you have many more hunts together and may you have the good fortune to do the same with your children.
Her survival and success to live so many years is a hell of a story. That's a wise animal. It figured out that it can use the presence of humans to keep her cubs safe from boars. I actually felt bad how every Tom Dick and Harry chased her around the park though. Animals deserve better, but...
I think my question is on topic, so here it goes.
I do not understand the logic behind taking out the larger bucks from the population if you are trying to improve the quality of the herd.

I have shot thousands of lead rounds through my handguns. Can't say I've ever noticed lead dust impairing my vision. Probably because I shoot with my eyes closed😆
It's a supply and demand issue. Want to curb the demand then raise the prices. It may even generate more revenue for FWP. And as long as the money goes to the right places, I'm all for it.
Curious how much fat folks mix in with their venison and elk ground meat. I did 15% for years but last year doubled that and went with 30% beef fat. The reaction from family and friends was 100% positive. Is anyone else using that much in their mixtures?
I found that 15% was still too...
I'm simple. One. Tikka t3x in 308. With one there are no decisions to make before heading out the door. I have no choice, unless I want to take my bow.
Just go shoot. My AR has 20 inch barrel and a 1:8 twist. Hates 55gr ammo. Prefers 68 grain. The heavier ammo is dead nuts accurate or to 330 yards. I haven't pushed it further yet.
Get a few different types of ammo and see what it prefers.
