Man, great thread. I’m not up for heavy writing, but I have a shit ton (English Standard) of owl experiences. Almost no photos… I spent some time with burrowing owls recently. They quickly learned to follow me and get a free lunch. Cutest damn things I’ve ever seen. Camera photos for wildlife… Garrrr…

That photo is epic. I was 15 when I had my first up close experience with an owl. I was hunting the Pintlars late season when I heard a whooshing. I was certain it was an elk moving through the crystalline snow. Like a ghost, a great grey swooped a foot from my face and landed in the pine directly above me. I could have touched him. His golden eyes analyzed me for about 30 seconds. Then he flew off silently.
