If this follows history, and there is a hunt, it will be extremely limited and probably cost the fish and game more to put it on than they make in actual $$$
Uh, you've been away from Montana for awhile. The tags are going to be over-the-counter. Resident hunters to pay $19 and NR to pay like $350. The system is a quota, just like most cat season's have been in the past. It won't cost any more than the cat season, and I'll bet that the tags sold exceed expenses. The quota will be around 130 for the first two year process. Add this to the fact that the WS and the state, along with the ranchers will keep the number of wolves in check. Might even knock them back a bit.
Kudos to Wyomong for having enough sack to stick with their plan. It is definitely superior to the ID and MT plans. The way it is written, MT's season wont slow wolf population growth enogh to notice.
Another armchair biologist with a minor in crayola crayon. Time will tell as too whose plan is better for both the sportsman and ranchers.
So Jmcd at what percent do you think Montana's wolf population will continue to expand?
