I am totally over South Florida and I have started thinking about leaving , but with a twist .
When we left Michigan we traveled for three years before settling down here . I think I'm doing it again , but different this time .
Last time we took the bassboat and I was fishing T's , on the east coast , that cost a lot of money as I didn't win much .

This time I'm thinking toy hauler 5th wheel , taking a sxs and maybe a Cataraft . My wife loves rafting , thought we could hit some rivers out west .
But the end goal is to end up in Alaska before any hunting season starts next year and stay a year or two before deciding which way to go next .
Is it possible to stay in a 5th wheel during the winter months of Alaska or would we need to rent a place ?

But , would or could you do it ? Sell the house , put the money somewhere safe and just go ??

Am I even crazier than my norm ?

All kinds of things come into play , like what to do with your stuff .Last time I gave most of it away , furniture , garage stuff , and so much stuff you never think about .
For me it was old racing and fishing trophy's that hurt to get rid of , but other than that it was just stuff and out it went , trash , donate , whatever .

But how many guns do you have and how many would you take ? Reloading is not feasible and my hunting stuff alone would fill a small trailer , LOL .
So do you keep it and store it , or off everything and start over again somewhere else ?
Where would you go ? We have friends in Arizona so thats the starting point , but after that ??

Southeast Alaska may be doable in a camper but I think the winter weather of anything farther than that would be hard to handle. The cold will be a hell of a shock from Florida weather!

My wife is a trooper , she says she goes where I go . Of course that could all change in the frozen north , LOL

With the high costs of housing in Bozeman and other areas, there are alot of folks living in RVs with straw bales or other insulation stacked around the base perimeter. There is also a large urban camper enclave on the Bozeman streets. I can't imagine that it would be feasible in subzero temps. Water system and other mechanical system issues would be ongoing.

Our last 5th wheel was supposed to be winter proof , but yes you are right , there's a point where it's not feasible .

We've done it twice , got rid of everything . You'd be surprised at how fast it re-accumulates . But think about it , most stuff gets replaced in a couple years anyway , weed trimmers , lawnmowers , it's all disposable . TV's and stuff are cheap . Tools were what I missed . Floor jacks and welders , presses , when you've had a complete shop and try to work on stuff with nothing it sucks .
But , it's all give and take , you're stuff is keeping you grounded , in a way ?

Yeah , I'm probably fooling myself about the winter there , I'd head south most likely , why be mobile and suffer the cold , you are right .

The thought of selling and buying it all is. Tbh the traveling sounds nice but not having home plate to go back to doesn't. That's just me.
