Wool clothing

I have exactly zero experience with wool outer layers, how well do they do against the wind?
They vary tremendously, based on the tightness of the weave and whether they have a lining.
Wool for me is generally a base layer, mid layer and outer layer too. Down vest in there sometimes. It’s the rain, wet snow that I use other jackets. Even then it’s possible to do felted wool. Think like a peacoat or Stetson sort of felt would cut wind, shed rain.

Part of me feels ChatGPT is involved here
If so, ChatGPT has figured out how to send me moderator requests. A good way for a new member to get tossed is to send me a moderation request on every post that doesn't comply with their desires, all the time with them stirring the pot with others via posts or PMs. Reminds me of the punk on the school grounds who would pick a fight then run to the playground monitor and complain someone is threatening them.

He's the second person toasted since I got home Monday morning. I suspect he won't be the last of this week, given the new analysis we are using to determine the ratio of politically-oriented posts of a user compared to their contribution in the form of hunting-oriented posts.

What confused me was when he reported that one post saying it was disrespectful, but at the same time had laughed at the post.

So it wasn’t just me😳
Then he sends me a private message telling me to “dry up a bit” and much more….🤦🏻🤷🏻‍♂️
Once I realized this guy was a little off kilter and really didn't want help,...well I considered my willingness to help terminated. Patience led to jest.
Think he had thin skin, the problem from the go get, searching for the perfect wool.😆

I have the LLBean wool parka and wool pants both lines with the wind break material and it’s been an awesome set in extreme cold and wind. I have always been a wool fan.IMG_3308.jpeg

It may have already been mentioned but Bison wool sox are pricey but worth every penny

Got my Johnson cruiser jacket under 100 bucks in mint condition. I'm assuming it’s 24 ounce.

Update...Johnson jacket gone. Came to small. Size is 42 which is Large, no where near a large. I'm not blaming Johnson.. but someone didn't care for it right. Almost bought a 46 but backed out with a Ebay refund....Unless the wool content is virgin, water soaks through, but virgin is a tighter weave and prevent this. Filson is virgin and the tag says so. It's pricier than Johnson and Woolrich 85/15. But as long as Filson is cared for or any other virgin wool garment, that don't shrink, or if they do it takes quite awhile ? If dry cleaned only they fair well ?
Last year, I bought a gallon of Starbrite waterproofer spray & a garden sprayer. Sprayed all my new Johnson wool clothing with it. Never ran into falling snow in Montana last Oct/Nov so cant say how effective the spray is. I also bought a goretex drovers coat from my local Western store & sprayed it too. I put that on over my wool to cut the wind. Its uninsulated. Ive never been so warm in 20 degree weather in all my hunting years as with the Johnson wool clothing. I will never go back.
