Aspen table I built for my cousin. His house warming gift.

Beautiful work. I've done a few table tops but have trouble with the legs. Getting the right look and style is something I can't find.

I don’t have near the skills of most of you, but my Father has a bunch of woodworking tools so I decided to whip up some reloading blocks from random wood I had laying around, while visiting. I made the blocks cartridge specific, which I am very much looking forward to using on the bench.

Wow! I’m curious about both the Aspen and the Russian Olive. I haven’t seen anyone work with them. Did you mill them? How does the wood behave compared to other species?

Good fun! Nice wood character. My neighbors are a little too close for a portable mill or Id have one for sure!

Aspen is not too challenging, Russian olive is a totally different story. I did start by cutting down a tree. I let them dry in the bark for the winter then ran them through the mill. I let them dry in the shop for a year. Then I was finally able to work with them

Nicely done. I like to see people trying out different woods. Thanks for sharing those pics and that inspiration

I am incredibly jealous of your nice straight logs. I'm working on an idea I have for a 4 sided live edge dining table. I can't decide whether I'm going Valley Oak or Black Walnut. Too many projects!!

You going to cut the live edge out of the same slab around the perimeter? mtmuley

The Logs I have aren't wide enough. I'm thinking 3 slabs in succession. Trim 2 toa straight edge and glue down the middle. The cut the third to a couple pyramid shapes and glue on the ends cut to accept them. It looks good in my head.
