Wolves & Elk in eastern MT

"We've found some tremendous bulls that have been killed by the wolves." Perfect, just perfect.

Yeah, tremendous bulls that have seen many winters, are plenty strong and healthy to make it. Two wolves can wear one out in a big hurry. They find these lone bulls or small bachelor groups, they are screwed.

It is a shame but dominant Bulls are most susceptable to not surviving....no time to eat tending to harem and running off other bulls, wounds and injuries from fights and then going to hang out by himself or a few others he can't keep up with......I guess the AR's think he was supposed to die because he was "weak"......

one got shot, sorry mistaken for a coyote last week near Mitchell, SD (eastern part of SD) which is about 90 miles from the minnesota border.

You all remember what Darwin had to say about that. Ever wonder why in the animal kingdom the biggest, baddest, prettiest get all the girls, and in the human species some of the scrawniest and ugliest get some of the choicest females. If we could take an example from the animals there would be no more "People of Walmart" and Woody Allen would have been relegated to a life of self abuse.

Heh, Heh, Heh,:) Your just jealous.

I'm quite secure in my ugly scrawnistic self.

Woody Allen would have been relegated to a life of self abuse.

I agree with that.

Thanks a lot Kurt .Oh suck. There goes my honey hole. They will have plenty to eat out in that country. Between the cattle and elk:eek: I can promise that the ranchers in that area will be shooting and not reporting.

Bart, For one I don't know of any honey hole you have, and if I did, I wouldn't tell anybody of it. I think maybe you did this yourself on the meth elk post from a couple years back. I was reading through it and man, I about spit soda on my keyboard. The thing starts getting really funny about 70 posts in.. Too bad Randy would kick butt on posting those pictures of that guy humping frozen elk carcasses, never not disturbing to normal people.

Kurt, John is my boss....I'll have to email him a nice compliment on his comments...

Several years ago we have a signal from a collared wolf in the south end of the Crazies. The Specialist from Springdale had a good telemetry signal late in the afternoon and decided to find him again early the next morning....funny thing was he was no where to be found. A Yellowstone Park Biologist had a signal from the same wolf early that same morning....in the Lamar Valley. That wolf had traveled 60 air miles south in one night!!

Kurt I should of put a ;) after the honey hole comment. Just kidding you for bringing me such great news.

Might explain why that haven't been able to relocate them

That's big country out there and like Breaksrunner said they can travel an awful long way. They have plenty to eat on including deer, turkey, elk, cattle, little kids ect... so I'm not sure how they are going to locate them exactly.

Those bulls rut from the first of September until the middle of November out in that country. No joke. I could see how those big boys would just be tired heading into and through winter. Man it makes me sick to think of the ones they've already found.
