#Winning = more public land poop

Fair enough. Was just a random thought I had 😀
Your right not the time to take a job with the gov, However its an unbelievable opportunity for the right person who wants to take on a challenge and make things more efficient. Lots of opportunities during times of adversity and change.

I cannot even comprehend how some people on here don't seem to differentiate between cow and human feces. One is slightly digested grass that is very nearly harmless, and the other can and often does carry all kinds of diseases. You can spread one in your garden and enjoy the produce, the other is a serious vector for illness and should be sanitized/buried/treated properly (ie not strewn about).

A shitty story
A good friend and hes a big guy 6 foot 5 maybe 375lbs monster of a man. Back in the day maybe 30 years ago first nite of a weekend camping trip, he gets a case of the diarrhea in his tent with his new girl friend. Crawls out and makes it to the timber just in time and leaves a big pile. A few hours later a light comes on in the tent next to him and they hear the voice of a friend oh aw ouch as she hops barefooted and her flashlight heads towards the timber. After a loud scream that wakes every one around up, she heads back to her tent and they hear her tell her boyfriend she just stepped in bear shit! Some folks just can't get bears outta their mind. The next nite they tried to stay safe and kept a fire going as late as possible.

Interesting thread with plenty of educated opinions. If I was King, I would have the services provided debate based on the revenue incoming.

Sorry, no more blank checks and open budgets. The federal government needs to operate like the states and balance their budget. If we want the shitter pumped there should be support and funding easily available.

Why cant Washington do the right thing? If we need more revenue for additional services, by all means raise taxes until we have it. Please...just stop using the credit card.

Someone I know is working on an article profiling public land agency employees who’ve lost their jobs.

Of local interest, one former employee stated that there won’t be any field employees in Montana’s Spotted Bear Ranger District this year. That’s a real kick in the nuts if you like spending time in the Bob.

That’s the RD I was referring to in an earlier post. Sucks. I know some folks in Choteau too. Sounds the same for them. Outfitters will have their hands full come fall.

I'm a FS employee who has no technicians under him, and I assure you no technicians shouldn't mean no field going employees. It just means the desk jockeys have to get outside for once.

Maybe so. Not sure how familiar you are with the Bob Marshall Wilderness, but it’s a pretty vast area. That ranger base station that you can get to in a vehicle is pretty remote in itself (Spotted Bear). Not to mention the amount of work conducted for weeks at a time from even more remote work stations. The scope and scale of work that area requires has conventionally been done by a large group of dedicated, generally younger people being paid well below the GS-special-“paper pusher” level.

Not sure where you work from in NM, but I’m guessing it’s nothing quite like the Bob.

I know more than a couple 60 year old people that are in significantly better shape than me.

Look at the construction industry. Most field guys are 50 and older right now.

I was referencing his post about desk jockeys. I also work with and know 60+ year olds that work their asses off.

This was exactly what the Project 2025 document called for, actually. Let the states do it.

Problem is at the same time this whole federal effort is trying to shift more responsibility to States to pay for health care, to pay for transportation, to pay for education, to pay for disasters. Do you think, given it’s never been a priority to adequately fund before, that public land management is going to be adequately funded now, under this scenario? I’m not sure that’s a realistic expectation.
Project 2025?
