#Winning = more public land poop

We are discussing the impacts these cuts will have, as part of our Fresh Tracks Weekly Deeper Dive segment for Feb 28. The crew said we should have a thumbnail of me at a Gallatin NF Campground outhouse with the old Cousin Eddie statement, "Shitter's Full, folks!"

Seeing the tsunami of people coming to Montana each summer, the number of full shitters and the stench and filth associated with such will be hard to imagine. I expect a ton of complaints, but such is the shitty situation we are going to have.
Do us all a favor while the NFS is short staffed... stay away from the five alarm chili 😎

Maybe the executive powers and "subordinate officers" can take a look at this issue. I want those who shit in the woods to be held accountable.

Look at facilities ran by Montana state then go look at facilities ran by the fed. Tell me which one is better for that 5 am chili.

Irrelevant do you work water quality or water treatment?

Anyway cheers to any of you fellow civil service workers.

In all honesty, this does make me support transferring public lands to the states, that way some orange asshat from new york, who couldn't tell a whitetail from a jackalope doesn't ruin my backyard.
Hey....... that orange asshat is from Florida now. If you make New Yorkers claim him still, ya'll gotta make Arkansas take back Hillary! 😆

I know several here have, but I have to ask how many have volunteered to help clear trails, remove trash, empty toilets? Because if 10% of all the "save the public land" heroes I've seen pop up yhe last 2 days there would be a surplus of volunteers to cover the 10% let go.
I have. Plus picked up, literally 3-4 tons of trash off public lands near Laramie. Removed fencing on some places, installed buck and rail fencing in others. Spent a day cutting poles/ rails for another project. Installed signs and gates for a couple days. Probably cleared 50-60 miles of trails as a volunteer as well. Other stuff as well.

You?

I don't think it's appropriate to ask volunteers to mark timber, cruise timber, mark cutting units, or even clear 1000+ miles of trails that many districts have.

Paid staff is an absolute necessity.

We pay all seven employees a week of PTO for volunteer work. I don't care if its trails, fences, animal capture and relocation. Fine by me, so long as it's for wildlife or access. We see a lot of others out there doing the same. I suspect the amount of volunteerism would surprise a lot of people.

We don't do shitters.

I have done a ton on the state level here every spring, summer and fall.

And I never said it wasn't necessary I agree it is but like I said if 10% of the people I've seen saying they are advocates volunteered than the paid people could do the tasks you mentioned. 😀

I know you've done a ton for WY and I've thanked you personally on multiple occasions. That's why I started out saying I know some on here have.

That is AWESOME Randy! I know a handful of companies do the same in your neck of the woods.

I am sure it would surprise a lot of people. A lot of us that volunteer don't need to go thump our chests to the masses.

Looking forward to the conversation you have.

It's just a non starter to expect volunteers to pick up the slack of 3600 employees that were let go.

O good another one
that is a great point.

What is the point of this thread? Is there any actual benefit in pointing out that our elections have consequences? We all know that they do.

I'd hope that showing the absurdity of firing all but one of the wilderness rangers (simply because they were recently hired; and certainly not because they were costing the taxpayers any appreciable amount of money) for the most popular forest service managed recreation area in the second most populous western state- an area that has been identified as being highly susceptible to adverse recreation induced impacts for longer than many HT members have been alive- and showing the direct correlation between those firings and more, TONS MORE, human feces on the ground and in our alpine lakes might make a few people at least pause in their dry humping of the orange masters every action, but your insinuation is probably more accurate, it probably doesn't matter one bit.

^128 word run-on sentence. Take that Masshole, I know you're out there!
