I'm super excited! Brown bear in May and black bear in June. It's going to be a fun Spring chasing bears.

My 2cents (opinions vary greatly): Mountain spring bears taste like sh@t! Seasoned smoked meat sticks work good, nothing like great tasting fall bears in other areas. Finally finished tanning my bear hide from last season. I’ve tanned a lot of critters and bears were probably the most time consuming. Never killed one in the spring. Do they taste as good as a fall bear?View attachment 366154View attachment 366156
Ditto, are you a Montana resident or traveling up?I'm looking to do black bear in Montana in May (~15-20th). This will be my first big game hunt. If anybody with experience is looking for a hunting partner I'm at the very least persistent and willing to help pack out.
Awesome picture!Cant stand all the other topics non hunting related so let's talk bear plans. I am planning a 3 night camp off atv hunt in another state this spring that has me pretty excited to plan. Could care less about actual bear being shot but I love camping in spring if I hit weather just right. Locally almost all we have is grizzlies so will be nice to get out and see some actual black bears maybe cook some trout in the fire. Anyone got plans and ready for the seasons to turn? Here's a Pic from a couple years ago when I did same and was first person to get over snow pack and into this lake in spring.View attachment 361373
