Who ready for bear season?

Yeah my hope to be out at our cabin. We can harvest 3 black n 2 brown bear without any special permit besides a license n free black bear harvest tickets. The area has sooooo many bears that the moose are being effected. One game board has declared an emergency predator control area type thing. Kinda thinking I'd try popping some popcorn and see what happens. Or do some injured rabbit squeals.
While I'm out there I can kinda try some other stuff. There are holes in the door knob of the cabin where a bear bit threw the handle. And there are well used trails going to n from the cabin. And all around. So I hope to be able to help out our local moose n see if I can't harvest some bear meat to make some brats out of. Then we'll be ready to summer.

Finally finished tanning my bear hide from last season. I’ve tanned a lot of critters and bears were probably the most time consuming. Never killed one in the spring. Do they taste as good as a fall bear?View attachment 366154View attachment 366156
My 2cents (opinions vary greatly): Mountain spring bears taste like sh@t! Seasoned smoked meat sticks work good, nothing like great tasting fall bears in other areas.

I'm looking to do black bear in Montana in May (~15-20th). This will be my first big game hunt. If anybody with experience is looking for a hunting partner I'm at the very least persistent and willing to help pack out.
