Where to you keep your tags before and during the hunt?

i take one of the envelopes the tags come in and write the year with sharpie and stuff it in my "me" drawer (wife keeps nothing in these drawers) in what due to covid became my "office"

if i had wyoming tags there would be wyoming envelope that all the tags go in.

come season, choose the relevant tag and stuff it in the kill kit. then double chekc it's in the pack before putting it in the truck, then stop 30 seconds from the condo and dig through the pack to make sure it's there, then dig through again at the gas station to make sure it's still there, then double check again it's the right tag before starting off at the trailhead, then panic when you misread it thinking you grabbed the doe tag instead of the buck tag standing over a dead buck. anxiety galore

yeah, i keep the xbox in my "office"

Preseason they are in an envelope on the table next to my desk. While hunting they are inside a ziplock inside my “kill kit” where I have knives, gloves, mini tripod, etc

From the safe, to my trusty leather briefcase with Travel itinerary, to daypack. Each year same sequence. Keep The hunter safety cert with. One season in Colorado scrambling to get a hunter safety copy faxed for an otc bull tag Purchase even though I had a mule deer tag showing proof of safety cert with me taught me a lesson.

Pre-season I keep them in my rolltop desk in the license drawer. In september I move the license pack to my fold down rifle cartridge holder which is on my handgun belt. I don't go to the field without my handgun so I'm never without my license.

I use blue painters tape around the edges of the envelope it came in for instant recognition. Stored in a cubby with binos in closet. On hunt, it's in a zipped pocket in pants. Worried that it will fall out if it is in my bino harness. I only have webbing, not a zipped compartment.

All lisences stay in my hunt folder in the filing cabinet until go time. When I’m hunting, I have a little plastic waterproof tube that they go in along with a pen and a handful of zip ties. The tube stays in my kill bag in my pack.

individual folders in my office so i can continue to fondle them as i research each hunt for months adding each page of information i print or add to the separate files. As soon as the season starts they go in my bino pouch in a plastic holder. Except for the giant AZ tags. Those have to go in my pocket as just too big.

On my desk for a fun reminder of my upcoming hunt. From there they mostly get squished in a pack pocket somewhere. I like the idea of putting them in my kill kit - thanks for that.

I use an old checkbook cover (what the hell is that?), my tags and licenses on one side, my son’s stuff on the other side. It’s reinforced with duck tape and now resides in a Ziploc bag to accommodate the new Montana paper licenses. I like the checkbook cover, not so much the bag. 😒

Office is a good place for it. Not a good look when you’re locked in to the headset putting some 15 year old in his place in the middle of your COD match and the wife over hears that.

Especially in the middle of the work day

Before the hunt, I put them in a drawer with other valuable documents - car titles, some saving bonds the grandparents bought for my kids years ago, etc. Goes to show the value I put on my tags! :). Once season comes around, I put them all in a ziplock and put them in my pack. My pack goes with me everywhere, so I always know that I have all of my tags with me.

I spilt water on my hunters safety card and it was unreadable. I had my hunters Ed instructors card and my bow hunters Ed instructor card but the clerk wouldn’t take them. I went to a cpw office the next year and got it verified!

Before season they go in specific place in the gun safe for safe keeping. Before season they’ll get moved to a ziplock bag and go in a certain spot in my pack. I try to never deviate from this. With 2 boys, myself and the wife, there can be a lot of tags to keep track of and one of my fears is misplacing or forgetting a tag.

I store them in the safe and when it's time for the season to start, that tag goes into a clear, plastic name tag holder with my Hunter ID and small game license. They then go into the kill pouch of the pack.

Some are on the phone, paper tags stay down in the hunting room in the basement. That is the off limits area for the GF so they won't get misplaced. Once season starts they go into a second wallet I use for all that kind of stuff, which is then put into a.... fanny pack... The fanny pack is with me no matter the season or hunt I'm doing. I keep calls, p cord, knives, etc. in there as well.

On the fridge with a magnet. First hunt they all get signed , put in a zip lock bag and into the backpack that goes on every hunt. Also a license holder and zip ties for filled out tags
