What’s in your pack and your rifle?

Kill kit (like a dozen knives, zip ties, a tag, and another dozen pens), emergency kits (survival and first aid), sunscreen, ammo, delorme, game bags, butt pad, glass, extra clothes if need be, hand warmers if need be, and as much paracord and water as it takes to fill the empty space.

Factory 130 grain accubond in 270. Ruger American with a boyds spike camp.
OR
CVA Accura with lead round balls, patches, and pre measured pyrodex (antelope)
OR
CVA Accura with .50cal 270gr. Powerbelt platinum with pre measured BH209 (anything else)
 
Tags, license, drivers license copy, compass, Garmin or mini-Ipad with OnX, pencil/pen, mini-Sawyer water filtration, InReach, calls, DIY Gun Bearer, game bags, rain coat, rope, small tarp, surveyors tape, knife, food (some that is for the day, some that is emergency backup) Primos monopod.

Either a Ruger GSR synthetic ss in .308 w/ a Leupold 2x7 or a Tikka T3x Veil Wideland in .308 w/ a Leupold 2.5x8 with Boone & Crocket reticle.

Like JLS : latex gloves, zip ties for tags, transport tag (some states), felt marker to fill out a tag, all in a plastic ziplock. I shove my game bags to the bottom of my pack.
 
Much of what's list but added tourniquet and quick clot few years ago after my son cut himself on a mountain taking care of an elk

All of the previous items mentioned (excepts the twigs, leaves, and dirt). I also carry a thin poly tarp; if its nice, I put it down under my game bags to keep ground dirt, etc from my meat, if its raining, I can string it up with some parachute chord and keep myself and the meat dry.

And the greatest rope in the world swimming pool auto cover rope ( nothing stronger for its size PERIOD!) you can do anything with this rope, even pull out your truck, nothing ties tigher or holds better. (Wait, most of you cant this so never mind)
 
I'm rocking a mystery ranch beartooth. Packed with my exchangeable Shockey blade, caribou game bags, prepackaged lunch and Mt Ops, milwaukee headlamp with extra batteries, rhino 650 (as backup) about a liter of water. About 14 mouth reed's haha and my first aid kit

Anybody have any tips for how to organize your pack on a western hunt? New to the western hunting game and wasn't sure if there was a right or wrong way to do it?
 
  • Kill kit with knives, blades, gloves, game bags, tags (with ziplock bags and zip ties for attaching)
  • Utility kit with some black tape and duct tape, paracord, multi-tool, matches and a few other misc things
  • First aid kit
  • TP
  • Lip balm and Vaseline
  • Extra layering clothes as needed
  • Two headlamps
  • Compact collapsible camp chair
  • Tripod with quick change adapters for scope/binos or gun rest
  • Spotting scope if needed
  • Extra mag with shells
  • 3l water bladder
  • Snacks/lunch
  • Calls, wind detector, bear spray and range finder all in or strapped to my bino harness
  • Trekking poles but they in my hands more than in the pack
