It really is a dangerous sport. I had a kid smoke my jake decoy with 10 gauge 20 years back. And before you say anything.....the kid was Trespassing on my property.....

He damn near got me. BB's went flying past my feet at about 5 feet away.

People stalking "reaping" with fans need to have their heads checked. There is 100% NO WAY I would ever do that after almost being shot.

I'm hunting some public nearby this year for turkey and I'm not gonna lie. I'm slightly on edge about the other hunters.

I did a fair amount of turkey hunting on public in IL and luckily never had any real close calls with other hunters. Maybe my calling was that bad!

I hunt almost all public land and other people coming to the calls, definitely is something I think about a fair amount. I definitely don't let red, white or blue show on my clothes when out there!

I hunt our first season soley on public and the fourth season on private. There are still birds on the public but the amount of people is astronomical from mushroom lookers to turkey scarers. It is just best to stay away. Last year during the first season is the first year I have seen a guy hunting the public where I do. I ran into him two days in a row, the first was at the parking lot and the second I was on the boundary of private and public trying to work a bird across the private. After that we kind of worked out a plan and stayed away from each other.
