I haven’t tried Peak dinners - yet. I am still working through the surplus of Mountain House and Alpineaire meals I bought last year. Lucky for me they are best by March 2034.

Mountain House has always kept me going, but my hunting has always been from a backpack.

Each day:
Two Mountain House meals
One apple
Power food bar of one brand or another
Mixed nuts and seeds with venison jerky mixed in

Keeps me going and keeps me regular. YMMV.

Instant mashed potatoes and Oberto pulled pork jerky. Mixed together and eaten hot. The water reconstitutes the jerky and tastes like regular pulled pork. It’s a nice switch from Mtn House. Easy too.

When camping by the truck this year, I did leftover pizza one night, and it hit the spot. I liked it so much, I'm about to bake one tonight to bring with me during CO 4th season.

I second Peak meals if your not going to bring a portable stove.

Just back from NM deer hunt. Base camped by truck. We went precooked, vac sealed, frozen dinners...boiled in bag to reheat on camp stove.

- homemade venison spaghetti
- shrimp and grits (brought a little lowcountry to the mtn)
- venison "beef" stew
- some chicken / rice / veggie / cream of mushroom soup concoction my buddy made that was out of this world good

The time it takes to reheat a meal is about right for a Deschutes appetizer
