Toprut No Longer Free

Sigh, I guess they all end up that way in the end. I used it when it was free and it was okay. Is Gohunt worth the greater expense?

I never used Toprut so I don't have a comparison to GoHunt, but with multiple applications in 8 states it easily saves me 3-5hours each month during application season. Well worth the opportunity cost for me. I'm sure there are other services that could be sufficient, but being a few years into GoHunt now and completely understanding their platform it just makes it easy. If I was just starting out into an application platform or didn't apply as significantly as I do it would be a different equation.

Always used Toprut since they started. Good service. I gladly paid the full fee. Seems to be getting better.

I spend a lot of time w CO elk statistics, have for decades. IMO Toprut is not very accurate in rating units RE most of their rating criteria, and their overall ratings of CO elk units are way off. Entertaining reading when it was free. Selfishly I would say spend the $ and drink their koolaid, that will keep you out of better units.

I have gohunt. It's a little on the high side for what you get, especially if you already know the units you will be applying in or saving points for then it like most others aren't worth much to a person at all. The problem with all these services is that they all claim to do a better job at figuring out odds than the other one, but there is no one actually verifying they are correct other than the companies themselves. So you are putting your trust in any of them hoping they are correct when you do you app strategy. Then you have things like trophy potential, buck/doe and bull/cow ratios that gohunt has and they have it for every species for every unit in every state. It makes me wonder how they are coming up with these numbers, are they actually talking with biologist in every state about every unit, and species? If not then I can't see how some of this extra stuff they have is actually accurate unless the states publish them, which I have no idea if they do or don't.

Both companies are calculating the prior years odds, they’re not predictive. They’re more “accurate” in they run the draw thousands of times vs once for the game Dept.

Toprut rates units? I know Hunters Trailhead did and GoHunt does, but I can’t find anything on Toprut. I like it better that way.

Services like gohunt( three year member here) need to get more competitive with pricing or add more value via services. I am on the cusp of jumping ship at this point however I do admit that its time saver at times. From that point of view it's worth the price however other services like top rut are making it harder to justify the subscription cost of gohunt

This is my thought. Getting $50 in store credit is not enticing, just offer it for $100. Get rid of the monthly drawing and lower the price ( I know its not just as simple as that.) Get a mobile app. Add half of the suggestions Ive submitted directly to them. Its a nice service, but priced too high.

Thank you, Nowiser. Turns out you are wiser than me, @ least. I confused Toprut with another service, Huntscore. I apologize to Toprut and the good people @ HT for my error.

go hunt is on the high side,,so be sure to at least get the $50 dollar credit each year,,be sure your not on auto renew as I apparently was last year and had to call them on it..they did give me the $50 deal though after I called and bitched
