So one question from someone who has never edited and posted a video to the net. What makes someone choose vimeo over youtube. My computer struggles with vimeo.

Vimeo provides a better picture quality, IMO. If your computer struggles with vimeo press play then pause and let it load for several minutes.

I do post most of my stuff on youtube as well.
