Tikka vs Bergara

Tikka but I’d validate there is a reason for a proof before wasting $ on one.

Have a buddy who wanted a proof for his tikka so he sold me the factory tikka barrel for cheap. That factory barrel shoots 100 yd groups like this on my action with factory ammo.

7 rds I think with $1/rd ammo

I have a tikka already, and yes it shoots just as good. If tikka made a 7prc it would an easy decision for me lol

Good news for you, they are on their way. For about the price of a proof prefit for the entire rifle too.

My Goodness, Hammy I love this! So beautiful!

To @Chingon did you follow the break-in directions? My dad got the same 300 WM and I went with him to the range to break it in. I would be very happy with that bergara rifle, minus the customer service of course. That part definitely hinders the choice.
Yes I did "proper" barrel break in with cleaning up to 20 rounds. I no longer do that because every custom rifle gunsmith I've spoken to says that is a waste of time. Never do it on my Tikkas and they print large single hole groups like Wind Gypsy posted.

All rifle companies put out lemons, but Bergara, Christensen Arms and Fierce put out way more. The difference is that CA will take care of you even though their QC sucks, but Bergara will look for the cheapest route to pretend they addressed the issue then tell you to pound sand and blame you. Fierce is on another level of aggressive unhelpful.

I was in Sportsmens handling both the Bergara and Tikka, but went Bergara due to how I thought it felt in hand. Was prepared to be a Bergara advocate for life and buy 6 or 7 more, but after being kicked to the curb after wasting 10's of hours and hundreds on ammo chasing my tail I'll never buy another one of their garbage products.

Heck, now that I'm intimately familiar with Tikkas and Rem700 actions I wouldn't even buy a Seekins (which are apparently amazing rifles). My big hangup is how absolutely nice and reliable the Tikka action and trigger are (comparatively), and also that it locks the bolt closed when on safety. When bushwhacking with my other Bergara 6.5 creed, the bolt would catch on sticks and open itself up. Really annoying feature of Rem 700 actions.

That happens to me all the time with my .308 too. Super annoying. I own a 700 but have hardly had the pleasure of shooting it. Bought it for the boy to grow into.

Crazy about that experience. I suppose if I ever have trouble with a bergara, I’ll have this in the back of my mind

I love my tikka. They have the best action around. Mine is in 300WM and it is a shooter. I don't think that you can go wrong with a Tikka. So much aftermarket support.
