Here is part of there letter,

The following letter was delivered to the Kerry Campaign today by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
P.O. Box 26184

August 31, 2004

Senator John Kerry
901 15th Street NW
Washington, DC 20005

Dear Senator Kerry:

As you prepare for your address before the American Legion in Nashville, Tennessee, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth encourages you to use this opportunity to clarify your actions in Vietnam and your statements about your fellow Veterans and shipmates when you returned home. Since you have made your four-month tour in Vietnam the centerpiece of your campaign, we respectfully insist that you be truthful. The public is owed a full and honest accounting of your actions. Veterans are owed an apology from you and an acknowledgement that there was no basis in fact for the accusations you made against them.

We urge you to:

1. Apologize for your conduct once you returned from Vietnam. Your exaggerated testimony before the US Senate; the blanket indictment of your fellow veterans; throwing away medals and ribbons; all of these actions dishonored America and the armed forces. Your rhetoric and actions were not only wrong, they aided the enemy and brought great pain to POW's, veterans and their families.
These guys alone will be responsible for sinking Kerry's boat, literaly. These last couple of ads I think are fairgame and make a huge statement.

Link to letter and new commercial.

Fecl,

I think these guys kind of already peaked, damage done, nothing further to inflict. Dubya would be crazy to allow these guys to keep lying about Kerry until the Election date, as I am sure it is a razor think edge he is walking. At some point the backlash could sink Dubya's uhhhh... uhhhh.. uhhhh... golf cart.

Right now the only things getting airplay are the GOP convention with their "Up With People" speeches and the back-peddaling by Dubya on his concession of defeat on the War on Terror.

I like using the Google News feature, and it shows what stories are getting told. The Swifties are yesterday's whore...

Come on Gunner " and the back-peddaling by Dubya on his concession of defeat on the War on Terror." You are supposed to be an intelligent guy.....why keep hanging your senseless ass out on such rediculous rhetoric?

I disagree with ya gunner. After the convention what Kerry did after Vietnam is going to be come a big issue. McCain has said it's fairgame and today Tommy Franks endorsed Bush and said what Kerry did after the war was a big deal. It might not be the SBV that carries the debate but they will be part of it. You will also start to see more airtime for the guys involved with the documetary "Stolen Honor". When this gets close to release you will see these former POW's all over the news.

Fecl,

I guess we will have to watch, but my guess is the Swifties have already duped the easily duped. New revelations will be viewed as suspect, and due to their previous lies, the swifties would have a hard time manipulating an intelligent voter.

It sure doesn't seem like the people I talk to are too worried about Viet Nam. They all think it was sometime after the war of 1812, and not nearly as relevant as the current Quagmire that Dubya conceded defeat on yesterday. The front page of the state's largest paper was about the 650 people who showed up at the funeral of a 20 year old kid from Boise. The first person to be buried in the new state Veterans Cemetary, even before its' scheduled opening. I assure you, the Swifties were not on the front page.

I can tell you from my unbiased, open minded point of view, I don't know who was right or not. Nor can I tell you if Kerry's actions were right or not. I can tell you that Kerry was against the war after he got back, and that the war seemed like a bad idea, in hindsight. That makes Kerry right in retrospect.

I guess there may be some who have concerns with how he accomplished what was right, but that is a topic for another day....
