Thanksgiving food prep thread

Potato roll dough after third punch down. Decades old recipe from Lubbock when 4 families gathered together for Thanksgiving and ate our doves from mesquite thickets, and ducks and geese from the playa lakes. Good times. Wouldn't trade them.

Light, fluffy, great with butter for the day, and for turkey/ham sandwiches after. Lasts 2 days, as if thats an issue. Roll pictures to follow.
Good rolls are my Achillies....

Ok so

I love pecans and I've never had pecan pie. I need to do something about that.
My family has been making the same pecan pie for over a hundred years. It's a no corn syrup recipe that really let's the pecans shine. My great grandmother wrote it down in 1914 not sure how long we've been making it.20241127_193631.jpg20241127_193638.jpg20221215_213502.jpg

Interesting. Sort of like a diet pie without the extra sweets added.
Yep. Although let's be clear there will absolutely be a corn syrup pecan pie tomorrow as well and I intend to have a slice of both. Although like @Outlaw99 said probably save one for the next morning with coffee.

Mine has 4 different sugar sources in it. I also normally add a little cayenne on a tip from a Cajun friend but left it out this time.
