Tax Facts

Bush paid about $250,000 in taxes this year; Lurch paid about $90,000.
How can one even begin to support or deny that statement??? So why perpetuate it...

And as for Kerry owning 5 houses worth $30 million, that is just a flat out lie. Go check Snopes.com on that one.

Kerry only owns (with Teresa) the Boston house, which he mortgaged to fund the Campaign. The Idaho place, the Pennsylvania place, etc...etc.. aren't his.

What does Mass. law have to say about community property?

Here is what Snopes.com has to say:

Claim: E-mailed item shows five homes owned by Senator John Kerry and worth many millions of dollars.

Status: Multiple — see below.

John and/or Teresa Kerry do own several valuable properties in the U.S., including:
A five-story, twelve-room brownstone townhouse (with six fireplaces, a rooftop deck, and an elevator) in Boston's Beacon Hill. This home is John Kerry's main residence and was assessed at a value of $6.6 million in 2003

A nine-room colonial home on a 90-acre family farm in Fox Chapel near Pittsburgh. This home is Teresa Kerry's longtime residence, where she lived while was married to John Heinz and where she raised her three children. It is valued at $3.7 million.

A ski/vacation home located near the banks of the Big Wood River in Ketchum, Idaho, fashioned from a reassembled barn originally built in England in 1485 and brought to Idaho by Teresa Heinz Kerry's late husband. It was purchased for $4.9 million in 1988.

A three-story, five-bedroom waterfront estate near the Brant Point Lighthouse in Nantucket's harbor, where John and Teresa Kerry were married in 1995. The beachfront property is valued at $9.1 million.

A 23-room townhouse in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C., valued at $4.7 million.
The aggregate value of these five homes is roughly $29 million, but the claim that John Kerry "owns" all of these properties is problematic.

Status is "Multiple" not false and not true.

See definition of problematic:

prob·lem·at·ic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prbl-mtk) also prob·lem·at·i·cal (--kl)
adj.
Posing a problem; difficult to solve: a repair that proved more problematic than first expected.
Open to doubt; debatable: “if you ever get married, which seems to me extremely problematic” (Oscar Wilde).
Not settled; unresolved or dubious: a problematic future.

So the ownership of these homes is open to debate - not so easily resolved.

You'd better come up with more than that, if you are going to call people liars.

Cali,

Where did I call you a "liar"? Please show me.

I did ask if you checked this nonsense out, before you posted it, and it appears you don't, you just blindly post it.

It is well known that Kerry signed a pre-nup, so although I can't speak for PA law, at leas the Idaho home would not be community property.

Let's face it, the post you put up was not checked out by you, and now you are scrambling.

From 3 posts above -

And as for Kerry owning 5 houses worth $30 million, that is just a flat out lie.

From my previous post -

You'd better come up with more than that, if you are going to call people liars.

I did not protest that you are calling me a liar, but it only makes sense that if you say a statement is a lie, you are calling the person making the statement a liar. Since I did not originate the statement, I take no offense at your comment.

I checked the post out before I made it at snopes.com (but just checked under taxes and politics, not under Kerry's name) amd truth or fiction.com.

And no, I am not "scrambling." I just asked you to back up your allegations, for once, instead of just making baseless charges. (and here is where you will bring up the mistake I made previously and admitted to... in another attempt to divert attention from your failure to provide the facts requested.)

Cali,

I think you been hanging with Paws too much, you keep scrambling like that, and he is gonna get you some eggs and bacon to cook....

I never called you a liar, and you can't show me where. I did call the original post of your's "nonsense", and it is. It doesn't even read very well. And besides, I didn't think you liked name calling, so why did you post that??

Kerry doesn't own the houses, so the statement of him owning 5 houses is wrong. I called it a "lie", but that doesn't mean I called you a liar, a Distributor of lies, or one who is easily duped by lies.... ;) .

And the conclusion of "The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a
way to avoid paying his own" is nonsense. And that is why I said it was non-sense.

A little hint, anything with "> >" at the start of each line is likely a bunch of crap, as the origin is long lost. And the "pass it on" thing is further crap on an e-mail that calls a Presidential candidate "lurch". Do you really think that somebody that would write that would have their "ducks in a row"?

I guess "lurch" makes as much "adult sense" as changing ElkChaser's name to elkcheese. That really demonstrates your intellect.

And again, no where did I say that you called me a liar. You must be losing what little reading comprehension skills you once had. Brain strain, eh?
