Tariffs and Potential Inflation

That's exactly my point. Comparing them to other farms let's say cattle grazing in Texas or your example of timber production for example is like apples to golf carts in terms of acres owned. Smithfield is the biggest pork producing farm in the US. So back to my post you quoted, it's unfortunate.
Run of the mill size for big production agriculture too - the size of modern potato, sugar beat, wheat and corn farming (by families) is mind boggling compared to 40 years ago. But this is apples/golf carts too, as Smithfield doesn’t do crop production agriculture.

It’s not a “pig farmer” either - it is a packing and retail processor - modern pork production is not about big corporate farms - it is about mid-sized family land owners raising livestock for large packers. But no point continuing the squabble. The jobs are in US, the decision making on almost all details relevant to a local community are in the US, the economic value to a small town are in the US - who cares if high level capital decision happen in NYC or Hong Kong?

The statement above shows a lack of understanding. Maybe you wrote it in haste.

No haste in my comment. Immigration and Customs Enforcement play an incredible role far beyond simply deportation of those found illegally in our country, penalizing companies for creating an unregulated setting, typically involved in taking advantage of the illegal status of workers.
We have lawful non-immigrants and lawful immigrants (LPR) who work in the US with the same protections as a worker as a USC (U.S. Citizen). This is how it should be. Protections for workers. Illegal actions by employers instigate the desire for illegal servitude. This must reduce.

You'll have to point out where I was trying to say it was. I didn't and "pork producer" is usually the term btw. If you haven't already read up on what happened to a lot of other farms after Smithfield got going. No I really wouldn't be happy if someone from Hong Kong or NYC did what they did to the pork industry was rough for family farms either way. You sure read an awful lot into me commenting that it was unfortunate.

You also know that there is a difference between a refugee, an asylum seeker, and an illegal immigrant. You also know that most Americans don't know (or care?) of the difference. You also probably know that ICE is understaffed and the courts are so backed up we could never get through these legal cases in the next four years, much less months. This isn't new. The problem is Americans want to live in a country that is simply impossible to create, at least not quickly or cheaply. This is why they vote for a guy who sells them on this vision, but lacking any details. The vision meets reality eventually. But let get this party started.

It would have been cheaper and easier four years ago. Prevention would have been the best medicine. So know a bunch of us are hoping that we can at least get started rather than falling further and further behind, no matter how quick or expensive it is now.

It would have been easier 40 years ago. And yes, everything is cheaper to do today. But Americans don't want to make sacrifices, which is the true cost. It doesn't matter if it is immigration or social security or mule deer hunting. Maybe taking a chainsaw approach will lead to some positive changes, but it won't be without pain.

But, just to be clear, I don't want to go back to a world like 1984 (funny coincidence lol). I'm more interested in going back to a world like 2020 (sans Covid, obviously).

People who want mass deportation understand there will be pain. But an adult faces a problem knowing there will be pain instead of ignoring a growing problem. There are far far more uneducated, unskilled, penniless illegals here than there is jobs for them. That staggering amount of people will cause huge increases in health care for those who actually pay it alone. That's just one example of cost in taxpayers. Imagine a world where Republican voters actually don't care if Republican owned companies lose cheap labor. Well it's real

It's going to be a long 4 years for some of you guys. Here's an idea that you may find appealing while locking into a 4 year, inflation free piece of mind!

Brilliant plan, surely there were ready to pivot on marketing regardless of election outcome. Target was the same, insufferable partisans with the same level of irrationality.

Most all measures have returned to pre covid or near conditions. The popular narrative from some media sources is simply wrong. Gas prices, inflation, jobs, all very near or better than your chosen time. What did you want things restored to?

My records are pretty similar to publically available data ..I have done far better in investments under dem administrations. Thats more due to what they haven't done than anything done to aid the economy. I greatly fear the coming stagflation the incoming one will lead to if their plans come to pass. Inflation is low now...yes it took a while to get there ...ain't going to stay low.
