That's exactly my point. Comparing them to other farms let's say cattle grazing in Texas or your example of timber production for example is like apples to golf carts in terms of acres owned. Smithfield is the biggest pork producing farm in the US. So back to my post you quoted, it's unfortunate.

Run of the mill size for big production agriculture too - the size of modern potato, sugar beat, wheat and corn farming (by families) is mind boggling compared to 40 years ago. But this is apples/golf carts too, as Smithfield doesn’t do crop production agriculture.

It’s not a “pig farmer” either - it is a packing and retail processor - modern pork production is not about big corporate farms - it is about mid-sized family land owners raising livestock for large packers. But no point continuing the squabble. The jobs are in US, the decision making on almost all details relevant to a local community are in the US, the economic value to a small town are in the US - who cares if high level capital decision happen in NYC or Hong Kong?

No haste in my comment. Immigration and Customs Enforcement play an incredible role far beyond simply deportation of those found illegally in our country, penalizing companies for creating an unregulated setting, typically involved in taking advantage of the illegal status of workers.
We have lawful non-immigrants and lawful immigrants (LPR) who work in the US with the same protections as a worker as a USC (U.S. Citizen). This is how it should be. Protections for workers. Illegal actions by employers instigate the desire for illegal servitude. This must reduce.

You'll have to point out where I was trying to say it was. I didn't and "pork producer" is usually the term btw. If you haven't already read up on what happened to a lot of other farms after Smithfield got going. No I really wouldn't be happy if someone from Hong Kong or NYC did what they did to the pork industry was rough for family farms either way. You sure read an awful lot into me commenting that it was unfortunate.

You also probably know that ICE is understaffed and the courts are so backed up we could never get through these legal cases in the next four years, much less months. This isn't new. The problem is Americans want to live in a country that is simply impossible to create, at least not quickly or cheaply. This is why they vote for a guy who sells them on this vision, but lacking any details. The vision meets reality eventually. But let get this party started.

People who want mass deportation understand there will be pain. But an adult faces a problem knowing there will be pain instead of ignoring a growing problem. There are far far more uneducated, unskilled, penniless illegals here than there is jobs for them. That staggering amount of people will cause huge increases in health care for those who actually pay it alone. That's just one example of cost in taxpayers. Imagine a world where Republican voters actually don't care if Republican owned companies lose cheap labor. Well it's real
