Tariffs and Potential Inflation

Donald does have an uphill battle. It's going to interesting to see how he spins this.

The states that support him the most are going to want some concessions. Those happen to be the same states that already create the majority of the federal deficit. Many of these States receive far more federal subsidies than they return to the country in the form of taxes. He's told folks that he can cut taxes without growing the deficit by implementing tariffs.

There won't be enough tariff's to make up for the potential increase in spend & the loss of tax revenue. A large portion of folks in America pay little to no taxes already (think impoverished or wealthily with shelters). The middle is squeezed.

I expect that some services would have to be cut (like social security and medicare). Those tariffs' would impact consumers pricing giving them a double whammy. https://rockinst.org/issue-areas/fiscal-analysis/balance-of-payments-portal/

Comparing this to the electoral map.
This blue is that red, this orange is that blue.

FWIW abuse of immigrants and work safety violations are something we all should work to end. I noted a few other meat packing plants--HIGHLY prone to this it appears--pinched for employing teenage immigrants in positions they had no business doing--again--recently.

BUT I fail to see the link between round up/mass exportation and this problem.

In my state our state AG has been very active in prosecuting such violations. And he's pretty far to the left of the scale even for midwest dems! We also passed allowing drivers licenses for immigrants--and more. On that, it's been shown that fear of ICE and other reasons prevents people from getting training and licenses and increases the danger of them being on the roads. They are going to be here and driving anyway, better to have them trained and licensed. Seems to be working already from what I hear.

The demographics are stark and dire for our economy. Immigrants are rarely taking jobs from others, they are filling jobs no one else wants, and we need to have filled.

We are losing workers in our work force at a fast rate as the many boomers retire, and our birth rate is nowhere near keeping up with losses of workers. Either we darn near pay young folks to have more kids or we increase immigration--or both--or we won't be able to keep the economy as strong as it's been all these years that all of us have been alive.

Yeah ... but aren't they murdering and raping when they aren't working?

Your use of "immigrant" and Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the same sentence: You are referring to illegal entry/overstay of illegal aliens.

Illegal is just that. Illegal.

Lawful immigrants (LPR) are a value to the U.S. and lawful non immigrants enter the U.S. for work every single day... LAWFULLY.
There are protections in place as lawful workers. The same protections as a USC.

To blame ICE for removing illegal aliens and holding companies accountable are the liberal cries of fringe Democrats.
Reminds me of the same blame on IRS from fringe Republicans, omitting congress sets the laws the IRS enforce.

Again, very simple:

We don't call poachers, undocumented hunters. They are involved in illegal activities. It's illegal.

Undocumented hunting? When you say it like that…………

For the average working person and their communities, better to have a China/German owned company making product in Arkansas but sending profits off shore, than a US owned company sending jobs to Vietnam and profits to NYC (or tax haven locales).
I was referring to Smithfield farms. Farms and farmland should be owned by people who live here and farm here.

Most of the companies you are referencing are publicly owned/traded.
Great to have U.S. jobs for the average working person and their communities benefit from the healthcare, taxes paid to States / Federal provided by the likes of Toyota, etc. Also the sale of the items are mostly available in the U.S. as well. More power to them for that matter.

Yah. You're probably right.....

That doesn’t even put them in the top 100 farming land owners, and much of what they have is operational (think feedlot) or part of a number of wind power setups they are hoping to start. Real Estate may be a good “buy and hold” asset class, but actually production farming has a lousy ROI for large corporations.

How many hog farms do you think own that much ground?
The preferred pork operating model is for family farms to own their own land and produce pigs to a particular size under contract. So, if they are well run, not very many. I noted in a post that I sent before seeing this what they are likely doing with this relatively small amount of land.

That's exactly my point. Comparing them to other farms let's say cattle grazing in Texas or your example of timber production for example is like apples to golf carts in terms of acres owned. Smithfield is the biggest pork producing farm in the US. So back to my post you quoted, it's unfortunate.

Sure SAJ.right in line for the propagandists liberal media outlets screaming "Fire, fire!" ;) They sure do have their, "Witch".
For someone who doesn't like to pick sides, you sure sound like you have picked a side. You are arguing semantics. I don't care what you choose to call anyone. Start the fire and let's see what happens. Warnings are not being listened to.

Again, you falsely misrepresent my statements and simply bitch about those willing to take a position.

I make it about hypocrisy. I support both D and R in their decision to continue our fight against China. I find the humor in Democrats lashing out at Trump over his tariffs yet ignoring their own administration increasing the Tariffs Trump placed. ;)

Misrepresent all you want. Maybe your followers will give you cheers because they fail to read anything other than those they follow though reality is I support U.S. intent to counter China's economic attempt to strangle our country - as I've shared.

Also I think it is clear in the immigration comments I am opposed to the fringe Democrats with their anti Immigration and Customs Enforcement as I am opposed to the fringe Republicans and our Internal Revenue Service. Both enforce what our legislative branch create.

Nice try - again. :ROFLMAO: ;)

Illegal aliens and lawful deportation is a massive win for America and all the law abiding non-immigrant and lawful immigrants working in our country.
Nothing taken out of context here. The statement above shows a lack of understanding. Maybe you wrote it in haste. I think we would agree that we need a new, updated, and larger legal immigration policy. But the large-scale deportation is a net loss for the American economy. Any argument otherwise just isn't so, as it ignores jobs, low unemployment, and overall economic contributions. I would argue it is logistically impossible, but hey, lets get'er started. The only way people change their minds these days is when reality kicks them in the teeth.
