Tariffs and Potential Inflation

Regulations from the EPA cost more than tariffs. That is why it went offshore.
Funny (and unrelated), antidote about the EPA from the early days: my uncle owned an automotive garage and sold used cars; we'll call it Franks Automotive. He had to find a new location in the 1980s (someone burnt down the old location), so he purchased an old gas station with four bays and a parking lot in the center of town. It was a great location for a small town and he could display just the right number of cars for sale (that's the number that you could display and sale without purchasing one of those pesky dealer licenses), and he had four bays to work out of. He would store the remaining cars on the front lawn of his home where everyone knew that they could go see Frank for cars. If you can't tell by now, Uncle Frank hated government regulation.

My uncle was complaining then that the EPA was charging fees ($2,000 annual), to use his in ground gas tanks (insurance). So, he decided not to sell gas until this "whole EPA thing blew over". You know he's still waiting.

Donald does have an uphill battle. It's going to interesting to see how he spins this.

The states that support him the most are going to want some concessions. Those happen to be the same states that already create the majority of the federal deficit. Many of these States receive far more federal subsidies than they return to the country in the form of taxes. He's told folks that he can cut taxes without growing the deficit by implementing tariffs.

There won't be enough tariff's to make up for the potential increase in spend & the loss of tax revenue. A large portion of folks in America pay little to no taxes already (think impoverished or wealthily with shelters). The middle is squeezed.

I expect that some services would have to be cut (like social security and medicare). Those tariffs' would impact consumers pricing giving them a double whammy. https://rockinst.org/issue-areas/fiscal-analysis/balance-of-payments-portal/

That's cute. "anti immigrant" AKA "undocumented immigrant" versus the reality: illegal.

Maybe we should categorize a poacher as an, "undocumented hunter".

A "non-immigrant" may lawfully obtain an H2A Visa to work in the U.S. and take all their $ back to their home country.

Difference, one holds lawful regulations for workers - the other enhances abuse of illegal workers. If you prefer to pay cheaper prices to maintain your "immigrant" valuation away from deportation - that's for you to decide. I'll pay more to ensure lawful non immigrants are able to work with regulations able to better protect them from abuse.
Nowhere did I...or would I...say I support illegal immigration. Let's not forget the "they are eating our pets" charges lobbied against Ohio immigrants HERE LEGALLY. They have given no indication they care about that key difference

We badly need an improved and orderly immigration process. Our country's economy requires that. Our southern border states deserve that too.

Press again today is another indication the incoming folks have anything like an orderly process in mind. Openly talking about using our military to round immigrants up, checking out vendors to handle mass deportation holding facilities...

Tariffs combined with an active anti immigrant and deportation plan will be a double whammy for our economy.

Illegal aliens and lawful deportation is a massive win for America and all the law abiding non-immigrant and lawful immigrants working in our country.

1.) A great change from the Harris Biden current lack of securing our land's border security and as mentioned;
2.) The tariff bit is pure liberal hypocrisy as the Biden administration has not only kept Trump's China based tariffs, they've increased them!
But don't tell MSNBC, CNN, Bloomberg that... they already know.

Politics, ok, no politics... ;)

Side note: Good on Biden for finding his sack to continue / increase this economic war against China.

Good to read your last response. /thumbs up.
