Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

Have you ever been accused of "mansplaining?" Just curious. I appreciate you trying to be helpful, if that was indeed your intent.

Anyone ever told you that you are rather quick to make accusations and innuendos? Just curious. :D

Good luck. I think you will need it.

You seem a bit sensitive. It's funny that you say you don't care for Knight but then make repeated posts absolving them of any responsibility and putting the onus on the customer. They may need to hire you.

I was just trying to help you understand how the world is. It is not how you want it to be. Now go head and face plant with your complaints. My sympathy has evaporated.

I don't remember asking for your help and at my age I doubt I need it. You didn't get the response you were hoping for and now you don't know what to do about it, so you are upset and are acting out. Maybe work on your expectations when you decide to hand out unsolicited advice.

Man, you are really barking up the wrong tree here.

Did we not cooperate? ;) :)
You did! ha, ha. Wish I had listened now. :D

Later today (thinking more about BrentD's suggestion to see if it can be modded) I'm going to pull that recoil pad (if it is not glued on) and see if the stock is filled with some kind of foam that could be removed. I know on Kimber rifles, some guys have done this to drop quite a few ounces. Just looking at the pad though, I'm afraid it may be glued on and I don't want to affect the resale value if I can help it.

I wouldn't touch it. I think they're fine equipment.

A large margin of capable centerfire inventory, preference, and a trusted buyback agreement.
I think you said you never fired that gun. Is that right? No question they look very well made. Just really disappointed that mine didn't hit the advertised weight, esp. at that price. If I had a box blind to sit in, I honestly wouldn't care. But the only reason I pick up a firearm of any kind is to hunt on my feet. If I'm going to be in a stand or blind, it will be with a bow. And the older I get, the more I appreciate lightweight guns on all day hikes, especially when there is altitude involved. Hence the entire reason I looked at this particular model in the first place.

Are you mounting an optic? No, never fired mine.

I wouldn't let a quarter-pounder deter me...should be a great carry for muzzy elk, which was my intention.

I hear ya. I just didn't want to compromise. Not for $1k. Finished gun, if I decide to keep it, should come out to 7 lbs. 2 oz. or thereabouts. Two oz. more than my .308 but still less than my scout-scoped 30-30. I could (and may) chop the barrel a few inches, not only to cut weight, but more to improve balance. She's a little nose-heavy atm.

Wondering at what point the barrel length reaches diminishing returns on a .50 cal. I know with my .308 based rifles, anything over 20" doesn't gain that much. But with 90 grains of powder to burn, maybe 24" is really needed? Anyone have a .50 cal with a 22" barrel?
