Well, you're spot on I'd say. I just got my "ultra light" that is supposed to be "a TOTAL of 6 lbs" and put it on my scale. It's 6 lbs. 6 oz., only 4 oz. lighter than my CVA Optima V2. What a huge disappointment. I know a lot of folks will say "what's the big deal, it's only 6 oz.?" but when you promote a gun as "ultra light" and advertise all over that it is "six pounds" then it should be SIX POUNDS. It is not. I will be sharing what I wrote to Knight, and their response, on a separate thread so people can have fair notice what they are getting into and what type of response they can expect from Knight.Even at half off I couldn't stomach the exorbitant shipping and "excise tax" they're tacking on. Knight has lost the plot, can't imagine they're in business much longer.
What caliber is your rifle? Like companies that advertise the weight of their boots, they do not weigh the largest pair. Rifle companies will weigh their largest caliber because there is less steel in the barrel.Well, you're spot on I'd say. A .54 might very well be that much lighter. You could do the math and figure it out if you wanted..50 cal
While I agree, I read their response in the other thread and it was pretty shitty to say the least. Doesn't make me feel to warm amd fuzzy as a guy who just bought another knight this morning (new to me). 4 oz ain't much but it's the point. You should get what you pay for and if you can't don't advertise it as such. What caliber is your rifle? Like companies that advertise the weight of their boots, they do not weigh the largest pair. Well, I did the math on a somewhat arbitrary set of numbers, but for a 28" barrel, the .54 was 0.2594 lbs lighter. That works out 4.15 oz lighter. So it gets fairly close..50 cal
Well keep in mind that a .44 mag, ain't .44"... Just sayin'While I agree, I read their response in the other thread and it was pretty shitty to say the least. I get that too, but when you plaster 6lb ultralight rifle...their response was well 6lb 15 oz is still a 6lb gun.Well keep in mind that a .44 mag, ain't .44"... Just sayin'
When you're looking at a $1600 gun advertised at a "TOTAL of SIX POUNDS" there should be nothing to "figure out." And you shouldn't have to call the company and ask them to weigh the gun so you can get the truth.A .54 might very well be that much lighter. You could do the math and figure it out if you wanted.
Is the Ultra Light even offered in a .54 cal?Well, I did the math on a somewhat arbitrary set of numbers, but for a 28" barrel, the .54 was 0.2594 lbs lighter. That works out 4.15 oz lighter. So it gets fairly close.
I don't suppose these have real wood stocks, but they can very that much easily. Maybe plastic can as well.

I've lightened up quite a few guns over the years. Drilled out wood stocks, chopped barrels, shortened forends, removed sights, etc. This is a $600 kevlar B&C stock that I don't see any way to modify, nor would I want to, nor should I need to on a gun that retails for $1600.There is always the courts, but seriously, take a look at how it is made and maybe you can lighten it up considerably, if that matters that much.
I'm sure he could I think it's the response that bothered him more than anything. Did for me anyway. That's a lot of money for some people, they should treat it as such. I'll bet they just lost a customer for life. Instead of gaining one. There is always the courts, but seriously, take a look at how it is made and maybe you can lighten it up considerably, if that matters that much.
Well, then I guess you live and learn. Sell it and move on. Maybe build your own.I've lightened up quite a few guns over the years. You sound like you may have a connection with Knight.Well, then I guess you live and learn. Sell it and move on. Maybe build your own.
No way...too modern. You sound like you may have a connection with Knight.
You do not know me very well. Not at all. In fact, I rather despise the company for what they have done to muzzleloader hunting. You sound like you may have a connection with Knight.
Have you ever been accused of "mansplaining?" Just curious. I appreciate you trying to be helpful, if that was indeed your intent. You do not know me very well. Not at all. In fact, I rather despise the company for what they have done to muzzleloader hunting.
I was just trying to be helpful and explain what I think you fell into. But I am, perhaps, a bit less sympathetic than I was at the start of this conversation.
When I needed a light rifle for my wife, I built a .50 that may be under 6#. Never weighed it. But it is wood and steel and a sidelock. I have no interest in plastic, kevlar, and stainless guns. Just not of interest to me.
Good luck.
