Sunday Pic of the Day

I am kicking myself for not taking a picture. Yesterday I saw 2 Amish kids having fun. One was driving the horse and buggy and going along at a pretty good clip. Tied to the buggy was a rope. The rope had 2 knots in it (one for each hand) and a kid was skiing in the ditches in the snow. The ditches were full of drifts with the wind we have had. He had serious talent! Barbed wire met his fate on one side, but he never got close to it. It was =2 degrees. He didnt exactly have Primaloft insulation in those clothes. I bet he was 13 years old. The skiis were two wooden planks turned up at then ends.

This video of a bald eagle messing with ducks on the reservoir below my house was fun to watch. Funny how the duck keeps submerging itself very time the eagle swoops down on it.

I was fishing a local river in early January.
There were some mallards sitting in the river maybe 1/3 of a mile downstream. Bald Eagle took a dive at them. Ducks took off, and the eagle chased one duck up river, past me, for another half mile. Duck had the edge, but damn it was close. They were both going full speed.

Our elk are finally becoming more regular. 2 years ago we had people buy a piece to the West of us. They basically chased off anything with fur. The elk started to regroup somewhat a mile or so to the south last year. Then they got scattered when they were chased with helicopters to try and net and tag them. It was a fiasco. The herd of 60-70 disappeared until a week or so ago a small group wandered in here again. Yesterday we counted 16. I took this shot out our living room window.IMG_20250222_175728910.jpg
