Female acorn woodpecker. They hammer acorns into storage trees called granary trees - note all of the small holes. Really neat oak specialist!

Out in Texas to marry off the oldest daughter last Friday and while here granbaby #4 arrived back in Cali!

I took this picture in 2019 but I first saw this chair in 1985. It still had a semblance of a seat and back but you could tell it had been there a very long time. I always imagined some grizzled old retired logger sitting there in his tattered red plaid jacket and matching mackinaw hat, chain smoking Lucky Strikes and with his battered old .30 30 in his lap and a thermos of coffee under the chair. Probably killed a few nice bucks from there.
