First picture looks like Taos. Second picture is definitely Santa Fe.

not a big one , but it’s been a slow morning, not many fish being caught. This is a wild chinook , There’s also hatchery chinook that are running at this time, And on your harvest card you have to indicate which one it was

the boat next to us had a great fish on , Until a sea lion came and stole it 10 feet from the boat and then throw it around in the water and ate it in front of all of us

He would come out of the water with the salmon and snap his head as hard as he could and rip a huge chunk of meat out of it , eat it and then pick it up and do it again

our guide John has been at it for 45 years , this is his last season , feel blessed to get a chance to spend time on the water with him, a trip I will always remember.

The trip ended with a nice surprise, apparently even when I don’t go elk scouting I seem to find elk or the elk find me, hope it’ll be that way during elk season coming up this fall, i didn’t want to take the main highway home because of all the Sunday traffic coming home from the beach so we took the less traveled route through the mountains and sure enough there was elk standing in the road, at 4pm no less , First thing I saw was a cow and I could tell there was more elk by her behavior, then a young bull , As we started to take pictures a RV with six rigs stuck behind it drove right past us and our flashers into the herd and then all you could hear was the sound of thundering elk through the woods, There was a few still left on the side of the road as we drove on , I saw spike and like six or seven cows but I was hoping I’d get to see the whole herd cross and see how big the herd was ….. 😕 nope 👎🏼 but we did get one good pic and that’s no bull !
