"Lloyd Huff, 64, retired director of the Dayton Research Institute in Ohio, says he has "voted for a Republican in every presidential election I can remember" but it will be Kerry this time because "the Bush administration has been the most deceitful, duplicitous, secretive administration this country has ever had."................."Ohio resident Bob Stewart says of President Bush (news - web sites): "He's been a world-class polarizer. I don't know if I can stomach four more years with him as president. He misled us into the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and has mismanaged everything since."
A raging Democrat? No, Stewart is a Republican, one of an unknown number of such voters who plan to back John Kerry (news - web sites), out of despair over the war in Iraq and disappointment over budget deficits and social policies......

Having lost the last election, I'd say Dubya doesn't have any votes to spare. If he loses more die hard Republicans he's in big trouble.

I don't understand why some people still can't get over the last election. Don't most people understand the electoral process?

It's also strange that any "die hard republican" would vote for Kerry. Bush is too liberal on a lot of issues but those republicans are going to be real disappointed if they let Kerry get in. Isn't he the most liberal Senator the country has seen?

Curly, No, he isn't "the most liberal senator the country has seen". Do you really believe that?

"I don't understand why some people still can't get over the last election. Don't most people understand the electoral process?" I made the remark about Dubya losing the last election kinda "tongue in cheek".

It's not hard for me to believe that "die hard" Republicans would vote for Kerry. The news article gives some reasons why.

It's real hard for me to believe any die hard hunters or fishermen would vote for Dubya. His administration has been terrible on the issues that effect our hunting and fishing.

Here's a little info why:

"This groundswell of conservative opposition to the administration's environmental policies is not limited to the Tongass. Hunting and fishing conservation vs. resource development on public lands is a growing issue throughout traditional GOP enclaves in the American West. Along Montana's Rocky Mountain Front, for example, protests from sportsmen on natural gas exploration are ringing out. This area is revered by hunters and fishers for its world-class trout and large populations of big game.

"Areas like this should be last on the list," says Paul Hansen of the Izaak Walton League. "A lot of conservative-voting people are pretty unhappy over the Bush administration's record on issues like this." And that record was amplified by the ringing silence accorded environmental issues in last week's State of the Union message.

"What's happening now on public lands is forcing sportsmen to organize," adds Chris Wood, vice president for conservation at Trout Unlimited. "Never before have our interests been as at risk as they are now." His group boasts close to 150,000 members, fewer than 30% of whom say they are Democrats.............."

I haven't checked his voting record myself, but I heard that he has the most liberal voting record. Kerry is even more liberal than Ted Kennedy.

The article does point out good reasons not to vote for GW (like you do as well) but if you look at the alternative (Kerry) than it is hard to believe that someone would not vote for Bush. This election will come down to the lesser of two evils and so Bush should win based on that fact.

People need to decide who to vote for based on more than one issue. If we were to vote only on fhishing, hunting, and environment issues then maybe Kerry would be a better choice. But when you look at the overall qualities/ideals of the two men, Bush is way ahead of Kerry.

Ithaca i know a "Handfull" of democrats that will vote for GW Bush just because of what Kerry will do for the illegals! now that is just in AZ so iwould say that the numbers switching will be a Non -factor ,its the undecided that will make the differance IMO, [ im not voting for either one]
